I have a 1986 Honda CR 250.
I have replaced the rt. side water pump internals (pump gear seals bearings gaskets etc) and replaced the rt. side cover with all new OEM parts. I started the bike in the garage. No leaks and no water in crank case. I thought it was good to go. When I rode it 1 lap. Water started to come out of the weap hole in the new cover. I am not sure what the purpose of this hole is. I took the cover off and replaced the seal again with a new Honda part. The same thing happened again.
Whats my problem?

Is this a new waterpump housing/side cover assembly?
Did you replace the water pump shaft?
If I'm not mistaken, the weep hole originates in between the two seals and acts as an indicator when something is failing. In this case, obviously there is a coolant leak. If it were old parts, other than the seal it could be because of corrosion or wear on the impeller shaft or corrosion around the seal surface in the housing itself.

Also, where did you get the new water pump cover?
My 22 year old son is my mech. & he installed the seals. He doesnt think they are in backwards.
We will double and triple check.
