I've been following the sport since McGrath's rookie year, and 2005 has got to be my all time favorite AMA Supercross season. For one, it was the last year we got to see hard aggressive riding on the 250 2-strokes.
The Season was also full of heavy hitters:
Chad Reed
Kevin Windam
Travis Pastrana
Jeremy "Showtime" McGrath
Ricky Carmichael
James Bubba Stewart
Mike Larocco
Michael Byrne
Tyler Evens
Nic Wey
DV12
Ernesto Fonseca
Heath Voss
Looking back, that season was full of motocross legends, and I think it's awesome we got to see them out on the track together. I can't help but wish it wouldn't have rained at A1, and I wish Bubba wouldn't have wrecked himself out so early. The rounds when Bubba came back sure were exciting. I especially miss seeing guys just riding the bikes to the limit. Now it seems like most guys have to play it safe and think a lot to ride the 450's, where the 2005 season seemed to have a "grip it and rip it" type atmosphere.
