I have a very nice 96 cr250 that I built to race in the ahrma next gen class. When I went to the first race a couple weeks ago, all 88-20 bikes were eligible to run that class, and since I have a 19 300sx, I guess I don't really need this bike. It was a pretty well cared for bike from the start, but I stripped it to the frame and went completely through it. It has the following done with less than 1 hour on it, powdercoat frame, cerakote hubs, did rims with bulldog spline drive spokes, 03 crf450 forks rebuilt and valves, rear gold valves, fresh rebuild, any chassis or wheel bearings that needed replaced were, new OEM piston kit, aluminum clutch plates replaced with steel, Mika bars, chain, and sprockets, pirelli tires, new OEM kickstarter, new bushing in the brake pedal, new plastic, very nice OEM tank. The only negatives are, the bottom frame rails have been repaired, but looks like a good job, a slight nick in an otherwise mint OEM 97 125 seat, and the pipe is good, but not perfect.

The bike runs and handles awesome, but I'm not really a collector, so I'd let it go if the price is right. Thanks in advance. Nvm, change of plans, keeping it[.img]https://p.vitalmx.com/photos/forums/2020/06/15/432631/s1200_20200606_09…]

Two strokes are hot right now and a steel frame CR250 is pretty desirable. Looking at the condition and what's been done to the bike, I'd say the conservative value of your bike would be $3,000-$3500. Of course, there are collectors who would pay more as OEM parts are drying up fast. You'll also get a few calls asking to trade for a '76 Rupp snowmobile as well. lol. If it was my bike, I wouldn't take less than $3,500. I'd hang on to it if you don't at least get that out of it.

I agree with the Dyno Dan22. You did a very good job on the bike and it is ready to ride. I’m seeing absolute junk lately for 2500.00+... I”m talking bikes blown up or jb welded cases for 2500.00... minimum 3500.00 if not 4K....

Restoring a 92 back to original is costing me $4000.00 not including the bike.
I agree with the others above.
I would market that bike to buyers in the UK, Australia and Europe.
It’s easier then you think to get a bike shipped.
Make that bike look completely stock. Your upgrades are sensible and will have a wide appeal.
The more original appearing the bigger your target audience.
I would consider Ebay motors.
Even at $4000.00 someone is getting a great deal.

FWIW....... I recently sold my '95 cr250 which had a few improvements over stock configuration. I cashed in for $3000, no haggling.

I had/have a low hour 96, I took the stock tires off it cuz they were dry cracked about 5 years ago a guy offered me 4500 for it so I sold it , I regretet it ever since about a year ago he called and said he rode it once and asked if I wanted it back, I said yes without ever asking how much ill never sell it now not even for 6000, a good one is worth great money and a proper restore on a crapper is an easy 7k to make it perfect

Geography plays a part in prices, but in the northeast that’s a 4K bike all day... there are piles of junk for sale at 2500-3k now. I picked up an original Running 94 over the winter, but it needs a full rebuild, I will have at least 2k into it, but at least I know it will be done right.

Much agreed! Im in western mass and clapped out bikes are 2k needing much repair. The bikes im doing are on opposite ends of the spectrum, although both were trashed. Im doing one to look at and one to ride. Im skeptical to say IF i sold either it would be tough to get my $$$ back and certainly wouldnt get my labor. I would have a better shot at breaking even on a bike that is being restored to be ridden as i may have gone a touch crazy with fancy parts and perfection on the “show bike”

Nice bike! I doubt that I will ride it much unless they change the rules for the next gen class. Even though it's cool, and a fun bike, I don't really need it. Change of plan, keeping it after all! Thanks everyone for the input!

I just did this 1995 CR250. I went through everything in the bike. It was a fun project and I love riding it.

The Ahrma really hit a home run adding that class. 1988 to 2020? BLM makes far more logic than the Ahrma

Well, I should have edited that. It turns out that they just ran them together, scored separately.

Well then I retract my statement. That's a great bike you built. You don't want to keep it for the class? What years does it compete against?

Thanks! Next gen class is up to 98` so this is the perfect bike for it. I did edit the original post that I am keeping it, I raced it last weekend and had a great time on it!
