You should contact Bo Bobbitt at Cycle Specialty in Fayetteville Ga. He was the original promoter and partnered with the guy who owned the land for years.
Croom is correct on the location. It was off of hwy 60.

Hello my name is Brad Wallace. I live about 8 miles from there now. I ran more moto's on that track than anyone over the years. I can show you the parts of the track that are left and should have a few pictures somewhere. Larry was right about Bo. He and a fast racer from the 60's ( Neil Couch I believe) built the track and ran the races for about 7 to 10 years.

Call me some time and I we can set a time to meet and go out there. It's been a few years sense I have been out there.

I have also ran many moto's there. Great track one of the best in the south. I have a few cycle news pictures from when I raced there. I have raced there against Bad Brad. Certainly the fastest big guy on a 125 .

Im curious to where this track was also. My dad used to race there and always talked about Billy Liles riding there. Can someone tell me where about off hwy 60 the track was?

OK, for the exact location of Burnt Hickory, here are the coordinates to the track entrance:

34* 03' 25.23" N
84* 49' 48.03" W

Look on Google Earth and you can plainly see where the track was if you were familiar with the area. The track is basically where the subdivision is that is to the west/southwest of this entrance. You can see a landing strip behind the home of the owners. It's easy to see where the trees were planted that was once a part of the track as well.

To get there, take GA 61 south from Cartersville to Ferguson Place, which is on the right as you're headed south. From the town of Dallas, go north on GA 61 about 8 miles to Ferguson Place, which will be on the left as you're headed north.

The first time I raced there was I think 1976 in the 100cc class. We had to run two qualifiying race just to make the reg. two moto race. Some times they would run the race clockwise. That front stright drop was bad news going the other direction. If you f k up on that jump your bike would go find a tree and get bent.

Brad on that 125 was just amazing. I remember watching him looking at and then kicking the root of this pine tree before the race at this ditch. At the start of the race all the racers slowed down to jump into the ditch. Not Brad, he hit that tree root and cleared the ditch past a few others riders. It was a jaw droping moment I will never forget.

I think I was 14 when I first raced there. I was sponsored by Suzuki of Hiram and rode a 100 contender .and one of my teammates was Tracy Parson . Him and Bad Brad Wallace were the ones to beat but you was not going to beat them unless they broke down or crashed. Me and Jeffery Brown raced all over the state and adjoining states as well . The good old days. . I spent every dime I made on racing. Danny Walsh

I know it’s an old post but thought I’d share anyways. My uncle Furman Gray had these.
