Did DG make 2 different heads for the same bike?

I know DG made a 9 fin & later a 17 fin head for the Honda CR125 Elsinore. Below are photos of a couple of DG heads I have for the same bike (74-78 Honda CR125) and both are the later model 17 fin extruded heads. The head on right (below) was used with an up pipe on my bike (gave me the clearance I needed). I first thought someone might have intentionally cut this head down and if they did, then they did really good job because it looks like it came that way. I am no expert on DG heads but I know there are a few of you out there with some knowledge (would love to hear from you).
