Maico guru's...gas tank ID please.

Need to find an exact copy of this tank. Notice how the tunnel extends past the bottom of the tank differently from a production tank? Or is this a particular production tank? I found a pic of another one on the internet for reference.

If it was only that easy. The repro tanks don't have the overhang from the tunnel and look a little slimmer. Would use one of those in a heartbeat if I wasn't trying to replicate this thing as closely as I am.

Looks like a 75 AW replica, but I'm far from a Maico guru.

Did you post on marks as well? Could also ask Allen Brown at NE Maico cz or Bill Eyler at East coast Maico. Hes on here sometimes.

Joe, it might be a Grand Prix Cycles tank. Wink Seriously.

There were a bunch of aftermarket tank makers back then, including whoeever made the ones GPC sold. I had one like that on my 73 radial 400. I does not look the OEM tank, and the closest OEM one would have been the 74.5

I'm not too sure, but it looks like I had the same tank on my 74.5... Bought the bike new from Wheelsmith and it came with that tank.
