Hello everyone , so glad I found this site after finding this old photo. It's from mini Olympics 1982 at Chicken Farm , I'm riding 1983 RM80 , first year water cooled, this the last turn before checkered flag , then 1 jump and then "chicken jump" out of pit . If I recall Denny Stephenson won my class 12-15 year old 80 stock and modified , Larry ward and Mike LaRacco battled in 7-11 class and Damon Bradshaw won all the 60cc classes by a large margin. If anyone else has old Mini O memories and/ or photos please add.

Awesome old school pic #17! Thank you for sharing this with us! Those were the days! That '83 Zuke looks like it is brand new! Open face helmet and JT mouth guard, JT gear with boot gators....you had it all going on!! What place did you end up getting? I am from Indiana, and was fortunate to get to see Mike LaRocco race as a kid. I will never forget watching Mike and another fast Indiana kid named Derrick Roe battle just fly around the track on their YZ60's, and then hope right on their 80's and do it again!

Thanks racer 106, I'm not real sure about my finish , I can tell you with 100% certainty it wasn't podium or anywhere near the leaders. I remember my goal was top 20 , there were 2 full rows of 20 riders on the gate and I started 2 nd row every race ,I believe I was around 14-18th place in all my classes that year. Lets just those starts with 40 of the fastest mini bike riders in country funneling into a giant banked , whooped sandy sweeper were just a little sketchy.......but I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!

Could have been an early 81 - it was the 80 Mini's - traveled from District 14 for the race - took home Gold. Winning everything but the hare scramble - got third, but lead until the last four laps. As a motocrosser, the length was not something I was used to. I can remember the first ever "pit stop" for fuel in moto1, and I thought that they were going to tell me the race was over and I had been missing the checkered flag. When my Dad said it was only half over, I thought "Wow - I'm in trouble then.". I was totally exhausted. I tried to pace better the second moto, but my brain just wanted to go fast and I experienced the same result.

Was an awesome trip with a caravan of friends and family!
