That bike sounded much different than any other 125, surprised they aren't still around, there was one other guy a 125 novice that raced Indian Dunes all the time had one, don't know how he got it but he always pulled the holeshot!

WRONG!

Come on Dogger's 85' RC 125 was a beauty.

While I admit the works Honda's were most definitely tricker by a longshot, the 1980 Mugens that came through Al Bakers were the best looking. Elsewhere in the world, the 80 Mugen's were delivered in standard red Honda trim. The white, red and blue Johnny O' bikes just stand out like no others. Of course, I may be a little biased.....

Those pics I posted are of my bike. It was assembled from leftover bikes and parts from Al Baker's shop. Johnny's bike is the one that Primm has, Terry Good still has his that he purchased from Baker originally. Another went to Mel Newman (no relation) in the Dallas area and is now in New Jersey. One more sits in a private collection in Colorado. I know of a couple more here in the US that were brought over from Europe.

There was one in Ohio also, unless Rick sold it.
He had a 79 Mugen 125 at one point. Not just an engine kit either. Rare bird there.

I just started a 79 CR125 Mugen Replica.........should be pretty sweet. I have a NOS Engine, Ohlins from Steve M, and the bike was almost perfect to begin with..... I will post pics soon. Newman, I agree that Johnny O Bike is my favorite bike. I met Johnny O and shook his hand back in the day after he won Unadilla.....great guy!

Terry Goods Mugen is probably the lowest hour Jonny O Mugen in exsistance. He told me there is about 5 hours on it...I have seen it in person and it is mint condition. He ordered it bran new from Al baker...The first 1980 Mugen 125 in US private hands..The most shocking thing is this is not the rarest or the nicest bike he has in his collection...I personally helped him reassemble a real deal Marty Smith 1976 type 2 RC 125..The restoration of that bike is almost complete... Go to www.mxworksbike.com for more info..

Look in the background! It hung out at my house for a while, got in as part of a trade for my OW27 Yamaha. Ended up breaking the bank for a 78 RC500 so the Mugen had to go. Resides in Georgia now.

Wow Newman! Those are interesting pictures and back story on my Ex- Mugen..It Came from Spain to me.. Funny story on that is it was lost in shipping for two weeks!!! I was freaking out!!! I was just getting ready to file a insurance claim on it came home from work one day and it was sitting in my drive way...My reserch indicated it was one of very few red Mugens to make it to the states. Most were white. I hope it went to a good home? The RC 500 you have acquired is amazing to say the least!! I have read the story on you doing the Smith replica RC. Amazing to be able to find two of those wonderful works RC's. I seen that Lacky bike for sale about 20 years ago for $25K... I wish I could have bought it way back then..But my bank was already broke...Im sure that it was more than that now...LOL. I am good friends with Terry Good and have been up to his place many times. His collection is just amzing!!! I had the pleasure of helping hime reasemble Marty Smith's 76 RC 125 type 2 when he got it from Japan. Here is a is an interesting pic of me in a sea of works bikes...

I remember that RC125 when it was in a discussion here in the old school section. Pics were up of it at a vintage race in Japan several years back. Of course there was no mention of it being Marty's bike back then, just a Type 2 RC, but still it's good to see more of the works bikes here in the states, regardless of whose bike they actually were. There was some discrepancy from Brad himself regarding that RC I bought for the Smith replica. And on mine, the photos of the rider who was supposed to be on mine, there are a few differences. Mine looks more like Smiths or Crofts to me. Getting good documentation is difficult at times. Kind of like that #39 bike of Marc Velkeneers, uh, I mean Bob Hannah....

Your old Mugen 360 is in good hands, and in the company of several other Mugens. Smile

Yeah, I agree it is very difficult to find real good documentation on some of these ultra rare old works of art....And I also agree with you about them being found collected and restored to their glory days. I am glad to hear my ex-mugen is in good hands in the company of other Mugens...I do regret ever selling it...

Let's talk about RC Honda's...Anyone know anything about this Type 2 RC 250 in this picture? It looks like the RC 250's are the unicons of the old works 70's Hondas...
