I would like to know what the stock length of the rear shock is on a 76-78 Honda CR125 ? Second what would be the longest shock you could put on one ?

Thanks for any and all information.

Stock should be 13.5", anything beyond 14"-14.5" they get awful tall for stock forks.

One of the more difficult questions as for Honda the lengths varied in those 1976-78 models. I just measured some old sagged out shocks for 1976-77 CR125's and they are 14 1/4" for both pair. I also have a very nice set of 1978 CR125 shocks (slightly different shock for '78) and they are 14 3/4".

I run a set of Works Performance 14 5/8" on my 1978 model along with a DG swingarm and the height feels good. Are you running the stock 1976-77 forks or the 1978 models?

Whatever you do don't go above 14 3/4" or the bike will feel tall in my opinion for the fork setup...unless of course you are going to sport some Simon or Marzocchi 9" travel fork$ on it!

Get my brother to chime in...he'll know the exact millimeter and probably hook you up with some Works Performance if you decide to go that route.

Well this going to sound strange, but I'm actually building a 73 CR 250, and I'm trying to get it to sit as tall as I can, because I'm 6'2'' tall, and these 73s feel like a mini bike to me. I know most guys that are tall that race these, put the taller GP seats on them and slightly longer shocks with limiters, if there racing ARHMA 4'' rules, which gives you about an inch or two, but I would like more.
I've got a stock 73CR250 frame, that I'm keeping original, and I've got a 73 CR250 frame that has been laid down, and a 75/76 stock CR250 frame, and a 77 stock CR125 frame, and I'm trying to figure out which of these configurations, I can install on the extra 73 CR250 frame, that will give me the most height and will work the best with the limited overall four inches of travel.

For the front end, I've fond a set of 35mm fork tubes that are 3'' longer that fit in my stock 73 fork legs, putting them in stock 73 fork legs doesn't give them any more travel than the stock forks, it just gives them the added length to raise the front end to match the raised rear end.

Here's are some pictures of a 75 CR250, with what looks like stock forks, it has longer shocks and a different swing arm, which has a different lower shock position, and mite be longer ? I'm not sure. This is how high I would like the rear of my 73 to sit.
