What year is this cr tank

I obtained a few remains of an 86 cr and have someone interested in the tank. The frame this came off of was an 86 (disp. unknown) but am not certain the tank is from the same year. Could it be aftermarket?

Stock Honda CR250 possibly from a 1985. I have the same tank but came on a 1986. I'm not sure if Europe and USA had different tanks. Or just by chance someone replaced the 86 tank with an 85 maybe due to damage The same tank with the lower left side is on 1985's.

Ive been looking on ebay for reference, and Ive not found a match. Maybe the usa ones are different from the canada models. It looks mostly the same as the 86's Ive seen, except the area around the petcock, its a different shape. Also mine has recesses to the outside of the mounts.

Heres an 85, which looks the same as an 86, but not my tank

The standard CR250 1986 tank is flush along the moulding line on the left hand side.
The tank I have is exactly the same with the recesses at the tank mounts. I also have the flush style tank.
There is a KS7 code stamped in the bottom which implies that it is Genuine Honda perhaps then, an alternative tank for desert or Grand Prix races. In the Genuine Honda manual there are options for the seat, springs etc.

If you look on bikepics.com most of the US bikes appear to have the flush tank and most of the UK European bikes appear to have the lowboy tank, though not all.

Thank you jtracing, I had thought that might be the case. The recesses were for added capacity, but wanted to know for sure. This one does have KS7 code.

In the bottom pic / Look at the little circle thingy stamped on the petcock side / That is the date the tank was produced for the upcoming years model.
Looks like an 86 to me.
