Great story about Greg Smith. Got to know Greg after a repair on my 123 Montesa cota. He had a 1974.5 maico 250 GP for sale with only 2 hrs use, with every wheelsmith accessory, very trick and only 800.00. I was only 16 but had a good job. Greg wrote up a contract himself and I promised him a hundred dollars a month. Mostly raced at Saddleback and escape country in the novice class. That Maico was the best handling bike I ever rode and was very reliable. Does anybody know we're Greg is now? Would like to thank him for some great memories.

The story was that the bike I had was set up for one wheelsmith sponsored rider with pegs, fork extentions, ported and pipe that I can remember. Then Maico came out with a 5 speed making the 4 speed obsolete of course. I wish I still had it because it handled better than my 2013 husky. I always wondered what it would be worth today. What's Greg up to nowdays. The last time I seen him he was racing a 7 speed Hercules that he was selling at his new location.
