I can't claim Newmann's works bits fame, but I came across the second works trinket I've ever had ( and paid too much for). This came up on the bay, and I've always lusted over it after seeing it in Cycle's dissection of the Tripes RC250 that Roeder claimed at Hangtown in 1979.
This one was listed as from a 1980 CR250 flatracker. I know Honda built some for the Class C guys back then, which would have been a good resting place for bits left over when the air-cooled 250s gave way to the water cooled 81 bike.
As anyone familiar with the 78-80 Red Rocket 250s, the stock clutch basket is a stamped steel POS. It's a bit ironic that Honda dropped some badly designed bits (clutch, kicker, swingarm, etc) on one of the otherwise trickest and most drop dead beautiful - truly works like in an era when it meant something - bikes ever to roll off the showroom floor.

China , parts on the 70's and 80's bikes
included. I have owned CR 'S my whole
life. alot of crap parts wise. The 78-80
CR250/125 were pure crap, the shocks lasted 2 days, kickstarter 2 weeks, cylinder
gaskets used to blow out. Frame cracked
Compared to My Yamaha YZ's78-81 zero failures!
