I'm looking into oversized bars for my 05 YZ125 but the bar mounts are cast into the triple clamp. I see they changed this in 06 and up. Does anyone know if the 06 top clamp will bolt right on?

I looked at the Pro Taper Universal bar mounts and I really didn't like the added rise, and I just don't feel completely comfortable with that set up. I'm really not interested in dropping a ton of coin on a complere set of new triple clamps either so what ever options are out there, let me know. Thanks bros.

My 06 came with a solid top clamp. Now Im running rg3 top clamp, the 4 post design can't be beat imo.

Thanks for the response, I remember back in the day Pro taper wold make a kit that would just come with the top clamp. I guess they discontinued that.

The 2006 and on clamps have a wider spread, so the top clamp won't bolt right on. I would search for an Applied top clamp for your 2005 on Ebay. Good luck.

Also check out Mika metals, they make a hybrid handlebar that would work.

not even close to as strong as a real oversize bar.

call rg3, i wont run anything else, so many aftermarket clamps aren't any better than stock, same 2 post design etc.

Bar mount raised about 5/8" but compensated with lower fat bars.
This may be the way I go, I noticed the Protaper mounts rise an extra 3/4 of an inch, I think these tusk ones may do the trick. Have you had any experience with them?

I had the risers/adapters on a couple different bikes. They are fine- never had a problem. I agree though. Compensate with lower bars.

I have the whole set-up if you want. I'm in California. We can work out a price for low bend tapers and riser clamps. Let me know. I can ship no problem.

Man, I'm sorry but those adapter thingys seem sketchy as all hell. No way would I trust those to ride hard, hitting big jumps, etc. Just the concept of 2 things stacked on top of each other with 4 bolts seems like a failure waiting to happen. Basically a cheap workaround to doing things the right way and I don't think a place like your handlebar mounts is a place for cheap workarounds.

How ironic, I bought Jake a DID 520 ERT2 chain supposed to be one of the best. He's racing WW Ranch and snapped the brand new chain in this mornings practice. We'll see how the adapters work on the big booter jumps there.

I know man, that was my initial impression as well. I'm going to hold of on a bar change for a while, put some money back and buy a new set of top clamps when the time is right.

You will not be disappointed. Snapped chains are most likely user error, or a freak scenario.

You're exactly right, he called me and said the master link was missing is all. My guess is I didn't get it snapped into the groove. I've caught myself using the needle nose and seeing the clip bend sideways a little and I had to tap it inward to get in the groove. Probably same thing happened here and I didn't catch it. Had a spare master link in the tool box and he was on his way again.

Thankfully he got the overall in both classes not like last race 1st moto start bike front flipped 1st turn braking the front brake reservoir ending his day.

That RG3 clamp is excellent. Nothing else locates the bars as well while still isolating vibration.
You're also less likely to bend bars in a hard crash with a little flex from the rubber mounts.
