Gentlemen,

I have a 1996 YZ 250 that I have been able to keep running since I purchased for racing in, you guessed it 1996. I usually ride my 2006 YZ450 but keep the 96 alive because my 4 year old likes to ride and the header pipe on the 450 melts his shoes. I am currently once again cleaning the power valves but have found that a brass collar on the left side holder appears to be pitted and severely worn. My question is where can I get just the brass collar? I have seen prices on the holder and wow, pretty expensive. Also, from the breakdown, I cannot even tell if the holder sold comes with the brass collar. Do you two stroke or yz experts have any idea? Thanks in advance for the help. Have a great week.

There is another piece, 19 or 21, I cant remember which one.It limits the travel of the powervalve, If it wears beyond spec the PV can hit the piston causing catastrophic failure, of course it was pricey too.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I believe it is part number 19. It is on the left side of the cylinder as if you were sitting on it. What I was hoping for was to be able to replace the brass(appears) collar and not the entire end. I cannot tell from the breakdown but the collar does not appear at all or is part of that end piece. I will take some photos tonight and attempt to upload them of the parts in question. The collar is so pitted and worn I am worried that if I put it back together that it will only be a matter of time until it catches the piston and no more 250.

Here are a couple of pics of the part in question. If I get part number 19 will it come with the brass collar. As you can see it is pitted and even has a deep divit on the outside. For almost 100 bucks I do not want to be wrong if I can get just the collar for 10. Thanks everyone who has chimed in.

Hard to say. Looking at the diagram, obviously the brass part is not sold by itself. But it could come either on the end piece or pressed into the powervalve itself. My bet is that it would come with that end piece. It's probably pressed on there from the factory and isn't supposed to come off. Yours is probably so worn and that;s why it comes off. If it was me, I would try to get a machine shop to make another and press it on there. Shouldn't be too hard.
