The Hinson and other billet baskets will be made out of a better grade of aluminum and is hard coated to reduce wear. If the factories can trust them so can you.

and then hard anodized compared to the relatively weak and cheap cast Aluminum OE part.
If that Hinson basket notched up in 10 hours, the OE basket would have looked like that in 1 or 2. Also, if you run Kevlar
plates, they will wear out any kind of clutch basket faster.
Everybody should run what they think works best. What works best for me is Redline Light weight gear oil and OE Honda
plates. That's what I run in my CR250 and CR500 engines, and the Hinson baskets are usually good for a half dozen race
weekends on the 250 (maybe twice that for the 500), before they start to notch up (obviously, the 250's clutch gets used a
lot more than the 500's). Once they start to notch up, I toss them. Filing the tines down just gives the clutch plates more
space to build up speed before slamming into the tine and wearing it even faster, IMO. That's one of the reasons I use gear
oil instead of ATF. The gear oil provides a little viscosity, and thus cushioning.
I primarily use the Hinson components to get the more precise feel and action compared to OE - I consider the extra longevity
a nice bonus.
To answer your question Slow450, get the whole kit. You will notice a nice improvement compared to just a billet basket.

I did, they didn't enough said.
I've had good luck with Performance Engineering baskets made here in Florida, whom the owner is also is the top MX promoter in the state.
Same material same process for $129.00
I'm from Fla and I know of PE but for the life of me I can't think of the owners name.
