Looking for the shorty version for an 08' CRF build; Preferably Ti or Aluminum but will consider Carbon with low(er) hours. Any leads are greatly appreciated!

I thought the same thing, JWACK...What exhaust do you run on your 2008 and how does the CRF compare to the new Katoom?

I still have a stock 08 exhaust on the crf. I don't need it to run any better so I spent my money on kit suspension...I like the looks of the shorty pro circuit the best on the crf. It's hard to compare the crf and ktm. honestly. I'm kinda disappointed in the ktm. I'm a Honda guy and the ktm feels kinda cheep to me. Wood screws and plated bolts all over. The plastic parts are less refined. It handles good, the clutch is nice and the fuel injection is cool but I know how to jet a carb so it's no biggie. Overall, Honda wins for me because it's better made and does everything really good even though I really wanted to like the ktm more. I plan on trading the ktm for the 17 Honda.

Great to know - Thank You! I know the quality is a bit diffferent (especially from the well put together 08's), and I'm mostly interested in the weight/overall handling differences. I'd imagine your dialed in Kit suspension makes the bigger difference over anything WP...

I think the ktm handles a lot like a Honda and feels a lot like a Honda ergonomically.. I put Honda bend bars on the 350. I would say the 350 feels a bit more like a 250 f while in motion and has really good front end bite. But not better than the Honda. On slow jump faces that you need to lean on the Honda feels like a tank. . Of course the suspension makes a huge difference on the rough stuff. No comparison really. I can go what feels like twice as fast into a choppy section on the Honda and over jump anything I need to without fear. The stock ktm will crash you if you get weird in a bumpy section and off balance. Worst stock suspension I've had on any bike in my opinion. Way unbalanced front to rear. With the front being softer than the rear. I like the front stiffer than the rear for corner entrance stability and charging into jump faces so I don't endo as easy . The ktm rides really good don't get me wrong. It has a ton of potential. I'm just super picky about the set up. 5000 dollars would get the ktm suspension fixed. But that same money will pay for the new honda and a good revalve and have money to spare so I'm going that way.

I switched back to stock exhaust from a Leo V. kit on my '06 CRF450. Pulls better through the entire rev range. At least it feels like it anyway, and that's enough for me.
...heard from a well known exhaust man. that shortening the stock muffler by 2-3 inches is one of the best set-ups for that year range, period.

Thanks DE262 - Hoping to find one of the original shortly Yoshimura's for that very reason! Don't have an OE muffler to test as the bike came with a choked up spark arrestor from Frederick Mac Factory Wink

Haha yeah, that carbon strap must have snapped on the previous owner. The bike was grenades when I got it. I'm using the chassis for my 500af build.

JWACK have you considered a Dr. D system? I have one on an '07 and have been very satisfied with it.

I have. Honestly I really like the way the 08 runs stock. I could use some better looks but I can't justify spending any money on it just because of looks. i am keeping the 08 just the way it is and purchasing a 17 Honda to tinker with.
