Just putting my head together for a project and would like to fit conventional forks to a late 90s 125
My options are white power extremes 50mm or I could fit a front end from a 96-8 RM 125
Does anyone have any experience of either fork including tuneability and set up as well as spares availability
The RM route seems the easier path but my heart would like to use the Extremes but either option requires some investment so I am just doing my research

man, my 97 RM250 had the greatest forks ever. Just plush as a cloud. That'd be my vote, but you CAN feel the flex if you're used to usd forks. Not a lot of flex, but it's there. I'd take them.in a second if I were riding strictly offroad.

same as 250. Do not get the 96 forks tho! The 96 forks had an inch more underhang below the axle and different internal construction. 97-99 are the ones you want.

If parts are available then the extremes would be cool, but if you want a total plush set of forks then the RM forks are the ticket.

I put the 49mm showa's on my '94 cr 250 and it was the best mod I've ever done to any bike.

Bike looks sick. I bet that'd keep any modern bike honest..

I have no experience with those WP forks but I did run a set of 98 RM conventional forks on my 07 RM250 for a whole season and they were super plush and very forgiving on the mistakes. Parts were readily available and they were damn good forks so I'd say that you can't wrong with the 98 49mm Showa's.
