Hey guys, looking for some advice. I recently bought a 2014 yz250f to get back into riding/racing. The previous owner did supply me with a DEVOL lowering link with the box of extra parts he sold with the bike. Me being a shorter rider i have been interested in trying it due to me barley being able to touch or start the bike while standing on flat ground. Just wondering if anyone has used any type of link on the yz chassis or has any other advice or if i should just suck it up and leave it.

Thanks!

My 15' yz250f came with a lowering link and I like it. I feel the bike would be too tall for me otherwise. I am 5'10".

Do you know which brand it was? I was doing some research on the devol one i have and they apparently don't recommend it for moto.

Im 5'6, for me on my 18 i used a PC link it drops the back 10-12 mm, had my subframe cut 10 mm. That all brings the back end down about a solid inch. My suspension is lowered 1 full inch as well. With this done i can almost sit comfortably with 1 foot on the ground not both. Im gonna ride with the gytr low seat i have, never really gave it a chance yet. I am running the taller pegs that come on your bike. +5mm over the stock 18 pegs. They feel better to me. Might take the stock 18 pegs and have metal tek add 15 mms to them and try them out. Help get my knees in a better spot to grip the bike.

I’m 5’7 and had a Factory Connection link on my ‘14, it isn’t a lowering link per se-it’s for handling improvement, but I could pretty much touch. Loved it

If you're not good with the Devol link and still want a link, I likely have a Factory Connection link (in blue anodize) I'd sell you.

@Downvoter ... why? I am giving Collin197 an option if he does indeed decide the Devol link is not for him. Tell me what is wrong with this?

For those of you who have aftermarket valving, Racetech or other, do you find that you are often pretty close on the clicker recommendations? or is it not all that uncommon to be say, 10 more clicks out on shock rebound?

I may try and stiffen up the rebound a little on the rear to see how it behaves. Compression wise up front it feels like if I go one click softer it doesnt hold up. I usually have about 1/2" left of travel per the O-ring on the fork leg after riding most tracks.

So then I wonder if maybe I should tryslowing down the rebound on the front, since it seems to rebound quicker than the rear. Usually I don't slow rebound down bc it eventually limits your speed.

Pulling the .25cc of oil out of the forks bring it down from 350cc seemed like a huge improvement for turn in and overall handling and getting into the better part of the fork action. Just still feels like the breaking bumps and chatter can be a bit harsh at speed.

Like I said in some video I can see that the front rebounds quicker then the rear.
