Anyone have a similar experience with the Athena 300 kit?
I stopped by my buddy was bolting this thing up.

As I started to look closer I was like WTF
The little crescent of light is the space between the ring and the bore

This is where the guy doing the chamfering of the ports had a brain fart

This is the most bazaar part, the head has a raised section about .2mm high and 10 mm wide.

What are your thoughts!
(Oh yeah I know the esr guy just took his shirt off)

That has to be one of the worst finishes I've seen on a two stroke cylinder. The 310cc cylinder that Ray Charles ground for me was only marginally better. Not to be a dick but no way I'd run that cylinder. This will result in nice metal chunks whirling around in your bottom end and a wrench rabbit rebuild kit no doubt. good luck!

That's not from chamfering the ports, it's actually a casting that didn't clean up when it was bored during the machining process. The Machinist didn't catch it, and neither did the plater or the inspection department...

You should send that back, it's junk.

Yeah I think it's going back.
I was looking at that defect thinking it looked like a grinding bit just sat there before it was plated.
Then they just passed it down the assembly line thinking the plating would fill it in.
