Master link clip direction?

Was surprised my new chain called for the clip to be mounted like this but I followed the instructions


I'm thinking maybe I should flip it around.

The directions are correct. Yours is backwards so ya, flip it around before you ride.

Closed end in the direction of rotation. The picture is on the bottom run of the chain.

Another quick tip is I've always ran the clip on the inside, not the outside. I was always nervous that should the clip fail and the link back out, it would smash my case at the counter shaft sprocket.

Nobody mentioned that the sharp side of the clip, the one that was facing down when it was stamped, should face outwards for a better grip on the link pin groove. ;-)
