Alright guys. This bike is basically brand spankin new, and I can’t come to terms with fucking up the damn shock the way I am. There has to be a better way to spin this son of a bitch? Im using a punch, and it’s still getting scratched.

Should I just not be worried about scratching the shock coating? I need to spin this mfer counter clockwise about 7 rotations, roughly. I spun it with my hand about 5 rotations in the wrong direction once and it was a pain in the Ass. I can’t spin it back counter clockwise with my hands. Any help?

Should I just hammer away with the punch (counter clockwise on the bottom nut) pains me to be do chipping the coating before I even ride it and after dropping 4K on it Sad

I was going to say, "just use your hands on the spring," but it sounds like you've already tried that. Try putting a rag over the end of your punch or get a spanner wrench.

And while I have you guys here, what all do I need to dielectric grease? More specifically, what parts? That grey cylinder thing has two prongs going into it. Do I need to grease those too?

I’m an idiot I don’t know why I didn’t think to use a rag. No I’m using some BS brass punch from the auto store

Screw a rag man... that gets awkward; but your call.... The motion pro tool also has a brass tip; but the tip is kind of squared... so as long as you don't get greedy with your approach angles, no reason for it to slip off the preload adjuster. Also, not sure if you're using a regular hammer or what - but a mini sledge is the way to go. No replacement for the swinging mass that a mini sledge offers vs a normal hammer. I dunno about you, but I'm all about any excuse I can come up with to justify buying tools I don't already own Smile

Spray a little WD40 on the threads, move it a little back and forth to work it in, then just turn the spring by hand...pretty simple...

Appreciate it.
Never really owned a nice bike before haha. And have been out of the sport for a good five years and am just nervous about ducking my shit up before I even ride it. I’ll try tomorrow after work.
