here is my 2020 Yamaha YZ250 I'm slowly adding mods as I go but these bikes are the real deal. After owning a 2009 yz I jumped on the 350 train and it was great but there was something to be desired with the suspension on the Austrian bikes and if you're a blue collar guy with a family it's pretty damn hard to justify a full on kyb conversion. I honestly thought I'd never sell my 350 until I jumped on my buddies YZ250 when we went riding one day and that was it. Call it crazy, or impulsive but I was sold and after doing a big job out of province for a bit I called up Winnipeg Sport and Leisure to pick up their last YZ 250. I'm planning on getting this bike together to race this summer after a couple years wasted on working away and then the big ticket will be 2 stroke nationals at Glen Helen for spring 2024.
been a couple years since the ol girl looked completely stock like the first picture . so heres an update.
not a whole ton has been done, just a Wiseco racer elite piston, FMF fatty and Shorty pipe, V-Force reeds, and recently sent the suspension out for a revalve to get it just that much better.
I'd love some input on whether triple clamps make that much of a difference and what offset guys run. I'd love a rubber mounted bar mount to pull out some of the vibration but let's be real, it's a 2-stroke it's part of why we love these things.
The only real plus is the vibration damping. I would just run the PHDS mounts in the stock clamps and that will save you some money.
certain year 450s had 23mm offset if you wanna try a different offset for not alot of money. youll have to have the top clamp bored out 2mm to fit the 2 stroke forks and switch the stems.
I was looking into that. But couldnt seem to find a part number for the phds mount. That would be the hot ticket I think!
