Hey guys,
I just wanted to share my 2023 Kawasaki KLX140L. I race pit bikes so this is one of my race bikes for this year. Pit Bike Races have been adding a class for these bikes and honestly it’s been a blast. We also ride them on the big bike tracks around here as well. Perfect bike that is extremely versatile.

Thanks for looking!
Real nice bike.. great job
I noticed at the last big pitbike race here in OK there was pretty much a full gate of these heavy-modded klx140’s. My question is, why not just run a crf150r now that they’re allowing all these bigwheel setup’s..? Is there an Air-cooled rule? Nice build by the way! I’m jealous this big wheel fad hadn’t begun when we were all balls deep into pitbikes as teens, my knees sure would’ve appreciated them too .
Haha yeah, I was there. Those races are why I have the 140 myself. And yes, has to be air cooled! Back in like 2009, I remember going to Texas and they actually had a CRF150R class for adults. But only 3 guys were in it.
and thank you! I appreciate it!
In the Colorado Pitbike series they have to be air cooled, you cant run the CRF150r either, its considered the same as the YZ85 and KX85s, They are full on MX bikes and so no go in the pitbike series. The KLX140L is kind of pushing the envelope as its pretty close to a full size bike now they are letting bikes with a 17 inch rear wheel and 19 inch front race, those are motorcycles not pit bikes. They have been really screwing the pooch with rules in the Colorado Pitbike series so they are losing riders and then they make full on supercross tracks like at IMI for the kids and pit bikes which is just stupid.

How did you get the Smart Carb to connect to the air box?
Lostboy- I went to a Colorado pit bike race in 2021 and it was mixing the 140’s with 12” and 10” bikes and it was a little frustrating. (I was on a 12” then). Was told they change it for 2022. Then I went to one of the Thunder Valley Rounds this past summer. Great turn out, classes seemed better organized. Although, like 35 motos…not needed in my opinion but gives you options. I think almost every class was close to full gates though. I know my class was double stacked on the gates. Overall turn out seemed just as big as a regular Kansas moto event. I will probably come up again this summer and check a different place out. (Been to Adams County Fairgrounds in Brighton, the Thunder Valley) maybe shoot for IMI this time.
Patrick-I’m using the boot/tube from SXParts.com. Cut it down a bit for correct length and seal it to airbox.
Your KLX 140 looks great, I may bite the bullet and buy one and then trick it out as it seems to be the hot setup. This year they have the 10" and 12" inch classes but almost all other classes like the age classes the max wheel size was bumped from 14" up to 16" and now 17" maximum. If they run at Arapahoe county fairgrounds again that would be a good one and so is the Adams country race. IMI pit bike track is a rock hard dusty blue groove SX track and that was on race day. lots of pissed off parents and people in general but if you have ever been to IMI that's to be expected because its mostly hard and dusty. They may have another location this year but waiting for the schedule to come out before I join again. Let me know what races you may come out for. I wish they would have a over 60 class
How can I find other pitbike races across the midwest?
Also curious about this. I feel like I don’t hear about a pitbike race until a few days before. Should I be in Facebook moto groups for this information? Tracks sometimes aren’t the best at posting on their socials.
Hey guys!
As far as races in the Midwest. Facebook groups are definitely the best way to find them out.
Depends on where in the Midwest you are? I do agree that even on the Facebook groups, people post a week or so before the event. But there are a few bigger events that will posts months ahead of time and try to keep it in front of people so it’s harder to forget.
Feel free to follow me on IG. I do try and post events that I’m heading to. I even post events that’s I’m not going to just in case someone is in that area. @jgx123x.
Great klx140 build!
The klx110 also looks nice, can you post a pic?
That is my “stock” 110. (unless you were talking about the BBR?) The engine is 100% stock, just made it look more to my standards.🤘
That said, I’m currently building my stock/mod 110 and I’m way too excited to show everyone this thing. Took a few ideas, twisted them and trying something a little unique with this one. Some people will like it and I’m sure some will hate it because it’s different. 🤷♂️
If anyone could go buy any parts, gear, etc I have for sale, so I can get this build done, that would be awesome. Haha!
Yes, I was talking about the 110 stock, thanks for sharing.
Very clean, I like all the green plastic with black rims.
Just got my klx140L done, have barely ridden it with the kx front end yet need to get her dialed in. These things are fun to ride for sure, I did sxparts bigbore and cam, 24mm kx65 carb, norifumi exhaust, drilled out airbox, pegs, dnm shock, kx front end with .52 springs and 15 weight oil, quick adjust clutch perch, smaller front sprocket, tall seat and bar risers and bars.
She rips for sure compared to how it did with juts the carb before lol.
Looking good Mike!
Definitely a blast to ride! We will have to get together sometime.
