Did anyone else feel that because the broadcast was on nbc today that they pushed the deegan/hunter and the perfect season narrative a little too hard? The entire show felt extremely corny and im going to be honest it wasnt a good showing in the booth today either. The whole thing seemed off.

Yep.  My girlfriend and I watched this, first time for her. She's always incredibly open to my blabber about racing (she loves "Rush", "Grand Prix", "On Any Sunday", etc.), but around 3/4 through the 250 moto she asked "Why are they only showing and talking about this one guy?  Does his sponsor pay the station more, or something?"  Well, that's just the right question, I thought.  There were 39 other stories happening out there then too.  I'll look forward to 'watching' some of those unfold next week via live timing and the bench racing thread, which actually feel far richer to me than that broadcast did.  It was cool to see the Masterpool/Ferrandis battle, and even to watch, for a few minutes anyway, Jett's consummate skill at keeping the bike low to the ground, but the Deegan fixation feels like the dentist's drill during a root canal.  And muting wouldn't have helped, because you'd still only be seeing 'this one guy'.  In the end, it's just insulting, like a local TV ad for a car dealership: drive the same point home over and over and over because we're too stupid to pick it up if you only scream it five times.  Rrrrrr...  (I don't expect much agreement with this post, but please know that my intent is just venting, not trolling...)

Well, those are the two main story lines of the season.

Really good point, I agree.  I guess it feels to me that the series teems with all these other vivid stories too, and I usually find them at least as intriguing, so I get frustrated when they seem to almost disappear behind the main one or two...  But thankfully, there's this forum, where we can still find most of those!

I agree but they rammed that perfect season narrative down the viewers throats. We get it. New eyes on the sport blah blah blah. Same shit different day. The second we accept the sport for what it is and promote to the ones that ride it will be more respected

NBC is all about presentation. The racing takes a back seat to them.

What was bullshit was the table displayed showing the Monster Energy riders current positions. Fuck off with that shit.

Yeah I couldn't believe it when that popped up. I mean sure sponsorship dollars are good and all, but can we at least have a little self respect for the sport?

I don't have Peacock, so I was happy to be able see a moto on "normal" TV. My impressions were thus: whatever the overblown hype about Jett Lawrence is, it's still such a pleasure to watch him ride, because technically, he's on a level not seen since Windham. Deegan, on the other hand - well, I'll just say that I was glad I had chosen to record it, because it let me use the fast-forward button during all of the vast, seemingly endless segments where he was being featured.

Tom Viale won? Who's he?
