I currently have a KTM 390 Adventure.  Looking to possibly upgrade.  Right now it is between the Tenere and the Transalp.  I ride 50/50 pavement and dirt roads.  I have a Beta for dual sporting.  Anyone have any opinions between the 2?

I’ve been riding both pretty regular lately.
And I also have a Beta dual sport , so we might see eye to eye here.

My honest feeling is the Transalp probably has the better dash and electronics, and the tenere is likely the better , more powerful bike.
By better, I mean it’s more rounded and can handle the off road stuff a little easier.
The Transalp is sort of “soft” off road.
It’s fine on road and a fantastic all around we but I feel the t7 is just a touch better.
Both have been a blast to ride!

The Tenere is going for a lot more than the KLR650 around here.  Is it worth $3-$4K more than the KLR650?  For a slow old guy who just might want something bigger than his DRZ400 for riding to the trails instead of trailering up?

My Father in Law is a Harley guy and he wanted to go for a ride last Sunday. So we head out, me on my DRZ 400, for what ends up being a 150 mile ride out to Frasier Park and back through the canyons and stuff. I will now never ride that thing that far again.

What about the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE? SVC is willing to make me a smoking deal but man, I just don't know... The Tenere just doesn't do it for me visually.

Nice choice on the KTM 390 Adventure, it's a solid bike for both pavement and dirt. Considering an upgrade to either the Tenere or the Transalp sounds exciting! Both are reputable bikes with their own perks. The Yamaha Tenere 700 is known for its rugged off-road capabilities and reliability, making it a great choice for tackling diverse terrain. On the other hand, the Honda Transalp offers a smooth ride on pavement with decent off-road prowess, plus Honda's reputation for durability. Since you already have a Beta for hardcore dual-sporting, you might lean towards the Transalp for a smoother ride on the pavement. But if you're itching for more off-road adventures, the Tenere could be your next thrill ride. Ultimately, it boils down to your riding style and preferences.

Nice, KTM 390 Adventure is a solid choice! Between the Tenere and the Transalp, it really depends on your preferences. The Tenere's got Yamaha's reliability and off-road chops, while the Transalp's known for Honda's durability and versatility. Since you've already got a Beta for dual sporting, it's all about what vibe you're after. Test rides might help you decide. What's your gut feeling leaning towards?
