Have you ever seen a huge weight get lifted off of someone’s shoulders? That’s sort of what happened when James Stewart returned to the top of the podium in St. Louis.

After a winless streak that dated back to Anaheim II, some turnover within the San Manuel Red Bull Yamaha team, and a highly visible string of mistakes both on and off the track, it was pretty easy to see that pressure was mounting on him.

But during his podium interview in the Edward Jones Dome, he couldn’t hold back any longer, and we all got a rare glimpse into a moment of emotional release.

To some, he’s a target. For others, he’s an icon or a “brand”, but as he showed us all on Saturday night, he’s also still very, very much human.
