Lightest Motocross Tubes Ever?

Edited Date/Time 6/8/2023 5:40am

In this video i take a look at Stark Future's new innovative feather light inner tubes. I'm still mind blown at how light these things are. Imagine running these in your gas bike!

(Note: at this time, they are not available for sale and are exclusive to Stark Varg electric dirtbikes).

You need a vin and proof of stark varg ownership to buy a set? What if you get a flat first trip out, how does one get a replacement?

what kind of tube is the regular one you're using? Is it a normal 1.5-2mm tube or is it a heavy duty variant and which brand?

I won’t run light weight tubes in my road bike let alone a MX bike… nothing says having a good time like changing tubes at the track on the tail gate of your truck.

Stark Future CEO Anton Wass said these new tubes are actually more durable than rubber tubes.

I like all the downvotes.

Stark tube is 156 grams

Rubber tube is 1,454 grams.

1454÷156 = rubber tube is 932% heavier than stark tube.

Must be a bunch of pissed off titanium salesman on here lmaoooo

Nah, its just the people who are so overly anti-electric who take every single opportunity they can to smash that thumbs down button, sit back in their chair, and bask in their passive aggressive display of negativity.

This is what gets me so excited about the bike and the company itself, they've really taken a fresh look at everything we take for granted on a normal bike and rethought what's possible for a production bike.  This kind of stuff is only going to push the legacy manufacturers to up their game after being relatively stagnant for a long time.

Its amazing to me how stagnant and comfortable other bike manufacturers have gotten lately, and that it takes a fresh new company to rattle things up and offer new innovations in the industry. But I'm here for it! Competition is good, and the "Big 5" better step up their game quickly!

I weighed a STD tune today and it was 900g

Still a big saving in weight around 3lb is my prediction for front and rear

I tried fat bike tubes on my yz250f once and was blown away what a difference it made. If Stark‘s new tubes are durable they are big news!

The Tublito, Schwalbe and other light weight bicycle tubes are made from thermoplastic polyurethane rather than butyl rubber. These are relatively new but seem to hold up and can be easily repaired. As far as their goodness (and availability) in the MX sizes and applications it remains to be seen.

Various other companies make bicycle latex tubes which are leaky and finicky and used for their light weight and low rolling resistance and probably not suitable for motorcycles.

So the stark, with standard tubes, is really 270+lbs?

How does that material do with "stretching"? When you air it up, can it stretch out like a regular rubber tube or does it kind of become this hard plastic tube instead? For instance like when seating the bead on a rim, you over inflate the tube a bit and that seats the bead, does this thermoplastic share the same characteristic and have some "give"? It looks flexible in the video.

@mog can you tell us what brand tube that was? They are all over the map, and some brands standard is another's heavy duty. I have some brand new standard thickness kenda tubes which I buy because they seem cheap/thinner than the higher quality Bridgestone/Michelin ones. I should weigh mine tomorrow.

Cool to see moto company’s thinking outside the box. There are lots of innovations in cycling that might  work good on a moto bike.

Other companies will try to put out similar products and get around any patents , china don't care lol

Stark is forcing the other companies to innovate /adapt or be left behind

It does say stamped on it something like "Do not inflate higher than 4psi unmounted".

Sorry I  can't as it's now mounted

Imo  a STD tube is about 900, hd around 1400 from Bryan , and imo a light tube like KTM use would be around 700
