Klotz Super Techniplate is #1 for me. Smells like nitro r/c car fuel. Seems to burn a little dirtier than other oils though.

Definitely Castor Oil (bean oil)--you cannot believe the how sweet it smells. Of course, if you already know this, you're probably an old fart, like me!
And elf race fuel. Oh boy the sweet sweet carcinogens

Bel-Ray MC1. I haven't been around a 2-stroke MXer in decades but can remember that smell like it was yesterday. It's no wonder so much nostalgia is associated with the smell of 2-smoke, science says that the sense of smell is the one that triggers the most visceral/emotional reaction in the memory!

I remember when the grape or strawberry shit came out.
Some guys were running in cross country.

You want to talk about motivation to get around someone, and maybe even give them a kidney shot with a barkbuster on the way by.

That shit was nauseating.

If cost doesn’t matter, VP MRX02 (or the soon to be released MRX03) with Maxima K2 or Yamalube R is what was common in the early 2000’s for nostalgia of that era. If you like the highly aromatic, sour smelling exhaust.

Ride the bike harder (not trying to sound like a dick) I recently did the top ends on mine and my neighbors 3rd gen cr250s. Both run 927 at 32:1. Her powervalve was pretty caked up, but not terrible. Mine was clean

Interesting. Last year I was running Lucas for my premix 32:1. The piston had some blow by. I was given the advice to run Motul instead at 40:1. Motul, I was told is a higher quality oil compared to most. I haven’t a clue if that’s true, but I’m curious to pull my top end apart this winter to see the difference.

Clearly, I was wrong - but I thought it was the high octane gas that gave us the smell we love? Not the oil. Someone educate me

I run Sunoco purple 110 with 927 in my 125 and it smells great, always get compliments on it. The Sunoco is $9.99 a gallon near me which is the cheapest race gas and the 927 has always served me well. It’s ported for a lot of top end and over rev so it gets ridden pretty hard with minimal carbon buildup when I do a top end around 20 hours. Nothing a quick scrub doesn’t remove.

Most race gas has a good smell, especially oxygenated. the oil is the cherry on top. Motul is very high quality, I used that and k2 before switching to castor oil

32.1 with 110 leaded renagade the 125 runs great on it. With the bike off you can smell it even. I will be running c12 next yr in the mod bike. Can’t wait to tangle with the 23 Ktm 125.

Blendzall smells the best says the guy who hasn’t ridden a 2T in 30 yrs. However the last 2T oil I used was Yamalube R in my 82 RM250

VP C12 and Ipone Strawberry scented oil. Best smelling 2 stroke mod fuel mixture on the planet.

Blendzall and SoCal Blue fuel... If you know, you know.

For non bean oil, I do think BelRay had a decent smell.

I used to run VP113 mixed with Motul800 and it created a very unique smell. All my racing buddies loved it. When I switched to VP110, it didn't have the same smell. The VP113 is oxygenated, the 110 is not. Only reason I switched is because my local vendor quit carrying the 113.

Back in the 90's & early 00's it was Elf Race Fuel + Synthetic. Still smells great nowaday, but they've had to reduce the aromatics due to FIM reg's(made in france), so not nearly as strong smell. I prefer vp mrx02, u4.4 or ETS's px11 now with Motul 800 or Klotz. Wish vp mr2 was still produced, that stuff was right on point with price, performance and smell.

Use a fuel fragrance, and pick the smell you want.

Currently using this with Chevron 91 and Lucas oil @ 40:1. Everyone thinks I'm running some exotic race fuel. 1 ounce per 5 gal is all it takes.

Profeshenal125, I have spent a good part of my life building 2 stroke race engines. the port job and cross hatch on your jug are top notch...Tip 'O the Cap to the port grinder .For my 2 strokes not smell but maximum life water or air cooled = Maxima 800 2T or Honda HP2 @ 32:1 they never wear or blow with proper jetting and clean filter. Great thread
