Had Jeremy sign mine Saturday at A2, not in a hurry to get the correct front plate now.

Hi,
Does anyone know where I can source a Works Connection CR250 skid plate from?
I know the 93's are still available but they don't fit the 95/96 frame as it's more flatter on the bottom rails.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi MC fans,

Does anyone know if a 1996 CR250 cylinder will fit on a 1993 CR250 bottom end ? Both year cylinders look identical but the Honda part numbers are different and the power valves have different Honda part numbers too. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes, this is the combination (96 jug and PV/93 bottom end) that is on my '93.

Thanx for the info Barkhard696 !

Do you know if the power valves are physically different from the 93 to 96 model ? Honda lists different part numbers for them.

Hi Matt,

Yes, the Australian Works Connection importer just told me he has 2 coming in their next order due in 4 weeks and one is pre sold and the remaining one is available. You can contact them here and ask for Brad:

I am not sure. The bike was a trade that was put together with the parts from several CRs. (It's the bike in my avatar.) I would try to keep the same year cylinder and PV, but my understanding is that the cylinders/powervalves interchange '92-'01.

I modified my 93 frame today and welded in the threaded inserts before I top coat paint so I could bolt on the HRC alloy case guard that I have.

That's a great job, I wish I'd done this for for my '95 before powdercoating. I'd fab brackets for the skidplate and weld them on (I plan on doing this on my '93).

I fabricated the brackets for my Works Connection skidplate yesterday and welded them on to my 93 frame. They're mild steel flat bar with stainless cap nuts. My frame is a but ugly underneath so the skidplate will hide that.

This is the undercoat paint that i used:

This is the top coat paint that i used. This paint is a very durable, industrial grade coating that is commonly used for painting ocean ships with:

Bump up this "unofficial" 95 cr250 thread..

Can someone tell me the difference between the 95 and 96 cylinders? Is the PV parts the same and any major difference in porting?

thanks!

Hi guys, I've been a fan of this thread about two years after oem nos fuel tank supplies dried up Smile
Col, amazing work, you basically brought a poster dream to life, and got me to sell my CRF and hunt for a 96.(Which I finally found)
I'm so stoked - sent you some build pics just now.
Definite HOF thread
now if one of you guys would just sell me a part or two... Tongue

This is an old comment, but hopefully this can help some guys out there.

Like all of you, I'd been looking for ages for a red cloth Renthal bar pad cover. Here's how I found one. Search eBay for "Renthal TRX Handlebars"

There are a ton of these handlebars still around, what tipped me off to their age is that many are polished (contrary to what some may believe, I'm pretty sure Renthal didn't "chrome" their bars, just did a high polish to get the chrome effect).

About once a week one will get listed with a red bar bad. Be sure to inspect it carefully with the close-up feature to verify that the pad is cloth-- some of these may have vinyl covers. But if the bar is shiny, that's pretty much a give-away.

I just got one, and while the cover needs to be professionally cleaned, it is indeed the period red Renthal cloth cover a lot of us have been looking for the final touch.

In my last order from the U.S I orderred some OEM plastics.

Here are some new OEM 'neutral' coloured fork guards. They are on the outside. The inside guards were UFO fork guards. I was bummed that the OEM fork guards are a little different colour. The left side guard (on the far right in the pic) is a little yellowish...

I also ordered an OEM front fender to replace the UFO front fender that got scratched when the bike fell off it's stand. The new OEM fender is on the right. You can see that the UFO is a pretty good colour match.

Hey Col, don't know if you saw my post in that YZ old skool build, but in searching for ways to get rid of yellow in plastic, I found a technique called retr0brite, the gamers figured it out to get their nintendos back to oem grey. I'm going to try this on my Clarke tank to see if I can get it whiter. If it goes well Ill recommend it for your fork guards.

Sorry Schwanz, no idea. I'd imagine so, coz plastics are interchangeable - but carb boot may be different?

I was wondering what tyres McGrath used in his prime ('93-'96), were they Dunlop K490/K695? Obviously different compounds were used, but what Dunlop tyre could you safely say that MC ran?
Trying to find some NOS Dunlops for my 96.

Thanks guys

He ran the 490/695 set, but also used D752 front and rear outdoors as well.

Not entirely sure on your shape bike, but my '91 125 has a 250 air box and boot.
I'd figure any difference in the boot may well just be the internal volume on my steelie, as it's a good fit.

Have you checked part no's?
