Just out of curiosity, what exactly is it that makes the factory bikes smell the way they do? I am running VP Pro-6 in my bike, and it smells nothing like the factory bikes do, which are claimed to also be running on pro-6. Do they run a special additive that gives it that sweet smell?

I’m not positive on the fact, but I’d imagine each team is getting their own special blend of whatever fuel the companies sell. I don’t think the teams running VP are pouring in the same Pro 6 that you or I could.

Not all teams run VP either.

You can smell the same thing coming from the top amateur kids bikes..wouldn’t there be some rule against non-production fuels in the amateur ranks?

I'm going to guess it's different temperatures causing that distinct smell. The bikes are getting way hotter when ridden at a pro level and you also have the smell of burning clutches and trans oil added in.
