He’s still all in after 14 years of riding.

Mine is 15. Been at it with me since he was on pw50. His room looks similar but there’s so much stuff on the walls at this point you can hardly see the drywall. Shop walls in the garage about the same. The sport consumes most of our conversations on a daily basis and my wife just rolls her eyes and mumbles “bike brains” 😂

I have myself, and boys aged 32, 25, 23, and a daughter of 21, all avid racers. Makes it easy to find a riding buddy on any given day.

My boys are in their 40’s luckily still riding single track with me. Sometimes my grandson does too. Bikes help keep a family close for sure.

IMG 4096 6.jpeg?VersionId=8f.FsMfLJ.y.9eLHHJroTuKmg9 yo - 5 years in some moto but mainly off-road racing.  3rd Gen dirt bike racer which I find cool. On 65s.  Final round of the season tomorrow - has 15 pts on the field 🤞🏼

While we love dirt bikes - the confidence he  has built up racing is really starting to cascade into other sports like baseball and mountain biking.  I love watching him excel across different sports.

Got a 9yr old and after 5yrs of riding, he is becoming a moto kid without knowing. Started young enough that there are very few memories that even exist in the time before dirtbikes, Instead of dreaming to be a racer, he dreams of being a Pro Wrestler. Thats fine with me, I always tell him that no matter where life takes him, he'll always be able to hop on a bike and twist a throttle for therapy. The experiences and friends made through moto are second to none. There are still kids his age at school that have never ridden a bicycle

All 3 of mine have been to Loretta's. The youngest is 23 still races, but recently married. The oldest 39 still rides but hasn't raced for a few years. Both are on 2023 KX450's.

Our daughter a few years ago. She was probably the most gifted and picked it up quickly.

One from way, way back with the Diesel, and then prob my favorite shot from 4 or 5 years ago in the Supermini days (#500 Kawi). He holeshot 4 of 4 motos that weekend against the big bikes and some weren't too happy about it. Wink Like many of you and your moto kids, he and I are very close after all these years and moto has been a very positive influence on him.

Mine started on a JR50 at 3 1/2 & he just bought a 2024 YZ250 at the start of this season at 30 years old. Both of us are professional practice track riders now & we have a great time together every time we ride. We spend more time on our street bikes lately since it's a 2 hour+ tow to get to our favorite riding area now.

Riding together is one of the reasons we're so close now.

My dude is 17 and has been on a bike since he was 4-5.. has never ever said he doesn’t want to ride his dirt bike. Def kept him out of trouble growing up. Also fun to have common hobbies with your kids. IMG 6961 1

Still remember our dudes meeting for the first time at hangtown. 4 and 3 years old playing in the dirt with toy dirt bikes. Almost 15 years ago now.

As others have said it’s just the best ever, only thing better is my wife rides too. My son is 10 and he’s my main moto partner. Him and my wife are almost the exact same speed so they get into sick battles at our home track! I’ve still got him but damnit I’m on borrow time here…..

Thanks a whole nuther topic itself - when did you realize your kid was now faster than you? A practice day at Woodland Mx: he was on his 85 and I couldn’t get around him. Now he’s way faster than I ever was. I’m fine with that although it does lead to some stress at times.

Awesome memories riding with my best mate. This was taken just prior the pandemic.Unfortunately lost interest because of Covid and the ridiculous restrictions we had in Australia.

lol it’s quite the topic with us already!  The shit talking has already begun, he’s claiming 13 years old on a supermini and I’m saying 14-15 and big bikes!

Keeps us both motivated, it’s my goal to stay faster than him until he moves to big bikes, he’s def increased his speed tremendously in the last 6 months. Just moved from 65’s to 85’s for most riding but then he races the 65 so he can race kids his age. I can hang with a 7-15 place 85 lorreta kid so we’ll see how fast he gets and how slow I get.🤣

West Craven on his 85. Couldn’t pass him and one mistake he was gone. I always told him the day he was faster we were sellling everything. That was 3 years ago. We still get side by side and we were yesterday for about 1/4 of a lap because he slowed down. We went through the finish line section at New Jersey Motosport Park side by side in the air. I clicked a mental picture in my brain looking over at him. These moments are definitely special to me.

I tried, but she's an equestrian girl. You think dirt bikes are expensive. 😂

Really excited to give my 5 year old son his first dirt bike for Christmas.  He rides the crap out of the electric bikes and go cart on our property and loves riding on my bike with me.  He did his first race this summer and loved it. I picked up and older pw50 this weekend for him that needs a little work. I planned to get it running with him and let him pick plastic and graphics kit. Question though: should I just get it running and have it ready and all shiny for Christmas morning or should I let him pick everything and fix it up with him? Figured a few of you have went through that so thought I would ask. Thanks in advance.

A buddy caught this one years ago. Hollister GP track probably 2012 or so. He would have been 6.

IMHO the first one should be as pristine and perfect as you can make it. You will have other years when he is older to do together. Heck, the last one I bought him I did it all and surprised him for his HS graduation. One of my favorite feelings is when he sees a new bike for the first time. Smile

Great way to put it and agreed. Lots of time to build together. This one needs to be shiny and new. Thanks a bunch!
