5/3/2026 7:36pm I got about $5k into this ‘04 RM 250 build. I loved my YZ but this thing is very YZish and fully built to my liking. This bike reminds me that dirt bike technology has made some strides but not as far as you think (for 2 strokes anyway).

Dan said Chase was being Chase, just riding. Of course he was 30 seconds down. Last year Chase was the fastest guy on the track. I’m a big Kawasaki fan, and these guys are driving me crazy. Great job Lewis for asking what we all are thinking.

Took some beauty shots. Also found that the richer coupler starts better with airbox snorkels trimmed, fmf, and screen less filter cage. I’d assume with more air the engine likes more fuel. With stock coupler it seemed it needed to prime with a few kicks before it would start. Once warm, 1 kick is all that’s needed.

I dont have any evidence to back this, and it's really just a hunch, but I get the feeling Chase just really really wants something he can't have, like "my last year GEICO 250" in terms of an overall feeling/frokt rear balance, and he won't take "we simply can't give you that" as an answer.

I just really hope it actually turns out to be a battle. I don't mind the games he tries to play beforehand, his confidence is probably at an all time high and he thinks he's gonna actually challenge the Lawrences. I hope so but if he doesn't it will for sure backfire.

See below for the recommendations and some hints. Be sure to only use genuine Keihin jets, some of the Chinese ones actually look almost identical but can be a size or two off on diameter or have some differences in orifice length. Also double check to make sure you don't have an air leak, in the reed block gasket or the intake boot, those rubber parts become brittle with age and it's often hard to see small cracks.

IMO, that setup looks lean. I would start of with and H series needle on that bike. I would expect it to looks something like this. NECH in #3 45/48 pilot 168/170 main This is with the oem power jet. Air screw at 1.5 to start out.

If I was Jade Dungey and Tomac said "I want to run the scoop on the hardest packed track we've seen in 6 races" I would've chloroform'd him immediately and woke him up on the start line with a standard tire.
