The Monster Energy Kawasaki team and wrench Jason Montoya (Aka Rango), we're nice enough to let us spend some up-close time with Jason Anderosn's 21 machine. Here's some teasers but keep an eye out for an upcoming in-depth on the new 2024 race machine. Michael Lindsay

The Monster Energy Kawasaki crew cannot only adjust the compression on the top of their forks (inner nut) but also change the pressure spring pre-load (outer nut). Michael Lindsay

As they've done for years now, the Kawi team measures their shock movement through a sensor on the linkage mount which reads shock linkage movement. This is then translated into a readout that relates to shock position, speed, etc. Michael Lindsay

The Kawi crew is on a standard Showa shock this year, not a BFRC. Michael Lindsay

We believe that team can use this nut to measure rear wheel speed, by knowing what the speed of the sprocket is in each gear in relation to rear wheel speed through testing. They could then match this up with GPS data that shows movement speed to see how much rear wheel spin they're experiencing. Michael Lindsay

Billet Nissin calipers aren't as rare as they once were, but damn they're still drool worthy. Michael Lindsay

If you squint, you can see the "cowboy" ghosted in the bottom of AP's #7. Michael Lindsay

After what seems like decades running 52mm all-aluminum forks, the Austrian trio is on 48mm forks with steel lower tubes. This means we get to see some lower-leg coatings on the WP equipment. Michael Lindsay

What are the bottles? Deionized water bottles that help the truck drivers wash their rigs with softer water, eliminating hard water spots. Michael Lindsay

Jimmy Jack's "Pro Circuit's truck driver" LA near burning to the ground of his barbecue will forever be remembered on Chappy's apron. Chappy (Chad Werner) was the long-time truck driver for Kawasaki's off-road program and later Team Green, and these days he fills in the gaps wherever needed.  Michael Lindsay
Kawasaki's more familiar driver, Brian "Big B" Barnhart, is out for the opening part of the season recovering. Thus Chappy filling in. Get well quickly B, see ya back at the races soon!

A few years ago I asked what this KX stand was on the ground. I asked if it was a wifi transmitter for bike data, if it was a dehumidifier, and a few other off-the-wall things. It's just a speaker...god I'm stupid. Michael Lindsay

Double bikes at Triple Crown rounds, love them. Who thinks we should allow tech-ing two bikes just like MXGP? Michael Lindsay

We'll take one, please. Michael Lindsay

A look a the "SX" Nissin caliper that Pro Circuit uses. It's thinner and runs different brake pads for Supercross. Michael Lindsay

Jorge Prado's final Supercross for 2024 is Anaheim 2. We'd have to say we're 99.9% sure we see him in Supercross full-time for 2025. Michael Lindsay

WP has gone away from having separate needle circuits for both the high and low-speed compression on their works shocks. Now they're on a more traditional low and high speed configuration that likely has a spring and sort of cage system for low speed. Michael Lindsay
Place holder
Prado runs his GET RPM dashboard just like he does in MXGP. Michael Lindsay
Place holder
Prado doesn't run any ribs or bumps but his seat is slightly shaved in the front 1/3 of the seat. Creating a small pocket that makes it easier for Jorge to stay forward in the corners and on the starts. Michael Lindsay
Place holder
Prado is one of the few riders in the field that actually uses a launch map and it's activated from the button on the right. Michael Lindsay

Stock pegs? Not quite. They're a 3D-printed titanium pair that looks like stock. Made by Akrapovic. Michael Lindsay

Why do the Star Yamaha 250 riders use a carbon fuel tank in Supercross? They don't need the extra capacity like outdoors. Our guess is due to its placement in the Yamaha chassis, it has an effect on flex and character. The carbon tank is much more rigid than the stock tank. Michael Lindsay
Place holder
The majority of Star Yamaha 250 riders have used KYB PSF1 air forks since 2013. This fork cap has the ability to add or subtract air (gold Phillips head bolt), low-speed compression (silver center adjuster), high-speed compression (blue adjuster), and rebound (red adjuster). It also has a standard rebound adjuster at the bottom of the fork. Michael Lindsay
