Ano. Masked the insides as well so they remain factory.

Bike came out awesome! Hope the shock works out for you I sent. I had similar problem with forks, leaked into the inside during stripping of outer. Had to send back to have re hard ano’d and then the outside redone. I should probably post a build on it.

Premix - I understand your thinking on that 100% with wanting to protect the already nice internal surface but there should be no need to mask the insides if your anodizer has a top notch setup. When doing type 2 aluminum anodizing the most important factor we typically see is the condition of the surface prior to the dip (granted these are all newly machined parts). Fork tube internals are like glass to start with & should come out that way after anno as well. If all factors stay the same & we want a shinny finish we polish the aluminum prior to anno. If we want a satin or semigloss look we hit it with 600g. Dull or matte 120g, or bead blast, etc. I am majorly over simplifing this as you can also get into caustic etching parameters, acid de-ox, the current used, time in tank, total tank load, cosmetic vs functional anno & let’s not forget the dye process....
I’m working on a project right now that is a cost effective solution to bridge the gap between basic anno & Kashima. It will be better than regular anno but about 1/3 the cost of Kashima.

dmm698 - another very good point to mention. If you don’t get a perfect seal between inter & exterior it can cause problems. When they redid your internals how did they come out? Any before, during (with the messed up area) & after pics? A thread would be great to read.
(Side note how do you like that Bills pipe, lots of mid range?)

Don’t want to clog up my PreMix’s thread. I haven’t had a chance to ride the bike yet (raining non stop the past 2 weeks in northeast). I do have some before they were repaired photos. As well as some after photos.

I was a firm believer in stock head pipes with a long PC or FMF silencer, as I really liked the delivery. I snagged this from a buddy for pennies. I had a horrid experience with a builder I’ll leave unnamed out of just taking the high road, but ultimately used Tom Morgan in the end who did a bang up job in a week turn around. So we shall see how she runs, hopefully this weekend. My forks are 49mm showas with DLC lowers, some billet YZ lugs, and ano’d uppers. The shock is an actual PC showa sand cast Kashima coated a kit body, 18mm shaft, billet Clevis, check valve, ect ect.
