If it’s in good shape it’s a steal. Swap to sss forks if you feel the forks need to be better then you basically have a 06-21 yz125

The forks are fine. I don’t know why people always bash on the 05 forks.

Bummer. I have a 2005, and I upgraded the forks to SSS. It's a great bike.
The AOSS forks in 2005 were the best forks Yamaha ever had up to that point.
SSS are definitely better, but the 2005 forks are fine.

My nephew had a 2005 YZ 125 and one problem that they had was the shifter stopper bearing would explode and lock up the transmission which happened to him. Had to split the cases and to get all the pieces out, luckily there was no other damage. 2006 YZ 125’s came with a different bearing on the shifter stopper.

The 06+ stopper fits the 05 without a issue. But ya that bearing was a bad idea

2007 was when the new stopper came along. 2006 still has the exploder version.

Yes sir. I paid $3600 for a pretty decent 2006 in February, and that was a really good deal in Northern California at the time.

Find an 2006 or newer fork (very easy to come by) to replace that 2005 garbage. For the amount you'll spend on getting those OEM forks to work properly, you can easily just replace with the far superior SSS KYBs that will work with just a few clicker adjustments.
