You're pretty much right on. Solid reliability, but not going to blow your doors off in the power dept.
This ^^ is spot on. The YZFs are the most reliable of the 250s. I've had multiple Honda's and had a lot of issues with reliability. Nice bikes, but they were a money pit. I switched to the YZF and love it. Not as much power, but very, very reliable. You couldn't pay me to go back to the Honda's now.

The 06 had some front end handling issues and as you said, the valves need to be replaced (on warranty). Get those two things squared away, and you will love it. It's a very nice bike.

well I just remembered seeing a blurb in MXA about the 06 recall way back when the bike was new...early 06. So when I decided to look at the bike I had it in my mind that I should check into it. I am loking forward to flinging this thing around when I get it back. The best part was walking by the '11 YZ250F in the showroom. $7200 on the sticker... I think my old bike will do just fine at around a third of that

I have found a nearly new (10 hrs or less) 06 YZ250F in original condition, shiny and new. The price is good, it may as well be a new bike.

I am aware that yamaha recalled and replaced the valves that year so I will be sure they have been done before the bike gets ridden if I get it

I am curious about the bike, mainly the motor...how do the 06 models run? I assume it is decent but not blazing fast (like most yz250F's I have ridden)

suspension, etc?? anyone?
I have owned one since 2006 and it NEVER breaks down it never fails to start and it´s the most reliable thing in the world! Buy it! Awesome bike and if the previous owner/s have take proper care of it then it will be your best friend. And I live in Iceland and don´t have a garage and in the spring it always starts up on me like it is the most excited bike in the world to go ride. My bike is my friend and I love it to death.

I´m a little drunk so this might be hard to read but I´m not in the mood for a spellcheck...

But BUY THIS BIKE YOU WON´T REGRET IT!!!

CHAAAD REEED ONLY 7 POINTS OUT GET´R DOOOOONE!!!!!!!!!!
