Tell us about the Ohlins.

How much $ and how well does it work on acceleration chop?

Was there any weight difference compared to the OEM shock?

I'm currently shopping for a newer 250SX and trying to decide on a nice '11 PDS or a '12 linkage instead.

That shock is probably the best aftermarket part i have ever had on any bike. The feels like it'a glued to the ground, just feels so much better than the stock shock. I don't know about the weight, I don't really care either, had a 450 for the past couple of years, and everything about this bike just feels light in comparison Smile
I'd definitely go for a 2011, imo the latest generations of the pds system are a lot better than ktm's linkage system
Mxa wrote something about the difference betwee the 11 and 12 model http://motocrossactionmag.com/Main/News/2012-MOTOCROSS-RACING-IMPRESSIO…

Fork guards that dont wrap all the way around are cool until one gets ripped off in a tight first turn and then your unprotected fork leg gets showered with rocks causing chips all over them. There is no way I am changing the wrap around fork guards on my kato

i'm pretty sure ohlins was key in the development of the pds system, kurt nicoll's bikes back in 97 ish had ohlins shocks pds before everything went WP

Go for the 12'. It's not that the linkage suspension works that much better, it's more like the bike just feels more composed and solid. For me going back to riding my pds bike really illustrated the difference, the bike just feels loose in comparison.

This bike is awesome. I've seen it a number of times this yr at the races & it's done right & looks great & sounds like a works bike on the track.

I have Raptor handmade Ti pegs on my 13 250 SX. I saw them on the factory KTMs & goggle searched the company & bought them. I think they are pretty badass pegs!

I didn't see you at MX101 this week. You missed a great day. It was pretty muddy in practice but the track came around nicely & was awesome for the races. 3 races down & on 3 totally different track & I really Fn love this bike!! It does everything great & just is a blast to ride & race. See you at MX207 this this weekend?

Nope. I work on a tug boat for 2 weeks at a time and then have 2 weeks off. See you at Southwick in the A class this time. Will race 40A and 45 plus. Glad you like your bike. Braaap

Was there any weight difference compared to the OEM shock?

I really think that's personal preference, I've ridden KTM's since 2002, but have had a Suzuki for one season and a Kawasaki for a season, and I could never get the right feeling on the linkage bikes. I Also tried the 350 KTM, but it just didn't feel right. I don't know what I'm going to do once this bike is done after next year, maybe start modding an EXC for mx use, they still have the PDS systems.

sweet bike

i've been wanting to get one for the last couple years and am really tempted... but i think i may just completely re-build my 2001 YZ250
More and more riders doing just that. You end up with a great bike for a fraction of the cost of something new.

Just got my engine back from Ritter Trim. Had some work done to the cylinder and carb. and added a little bit of bling.

Happened to me at the start of the year on my rm, I was lucky the chips could be sanded out but the forks nearly had to be rechromed. My brother also had the fork guard in his kxf ripped off and the metal clamp that holds the brake line was catching between the tyre and fork leg. Had troublewith leaky fork seals until he sold it. The closed ones are a lot less exposed to getting caught on a nobby

A friend of mine also got it ripped of his KXf 450 last year, had to replace almost the entire fork leg

I was wondering which plastics from the 2013 KTM models will convert onto my 2011 KTM 250 SX. Do the 2013 shrouds, air box covers, rear fender fit right on? If I can simply get the 2013 shrouds and put them on my 2011 that would be ideal but do not mind swapping over the other plastics if necessary. The bikes look so much better with the updated shrouds!

The shrouds and airbox covers fit right onto it, but only as a set. The rear fender is the same as on the '11 model, just in orange

Oh my, that's a beauty!!! Good work, and I totally dig the lack of linkage, would be my choice as well despite the newer system "might have positive effects" while it for SURE it's heavier! Wink

I think black frame looks good, I was going to suggest you paint it orange, since you did the rims like I asked! But I can live with this! LOL!

Good work, happy riding!

I'm no fan of the orange frames, so that won't happen.

You can buy it as a powerpart from ktm. It's better than the pro circuit, and a lot quieter as well

Been doing some shopping in the last week. Also got some bling parts, and blue radiator hoses + new plastics and graphics, going to look and run awesome once everything comes on it after my riding trip to Spain.
