2013 Suzukis

6/29/2012 12:25pm
They need yellow fork guards, yellow side panels, yellow rear fender, and gold rims. The red Suzuki "S" should be 3 or 4 times bigger and down lower on the shroud (right where that huge blank spot is now), which would tie in better with that red topped seat (which looks out of place without more red somewhere on the bike).

Other than that, they look good. Whistling

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is the best looking Suzuki RM ever built. It's too bad it didn't come from Suzuki like this.
That bike does look good in its own way, but to say it is the best looking RM ever is getting a bit carried away. I think it looks dated and I don't really like the blue motor. Suzuki did make RM's that looked a lot like that - right through the 1980's - but have kept moving with the times.

I think Suzuki's look best with black and white graphics, but I do prefer the blue/yellow combo over the red/yellow combo.

This is all JMO, of course.

I noticed the 450 comes with one less fork spring yet tips the scales at 249 lbs. Good thing they took the fork spring out, otherwise, that puppy really would weigh 1/8 of a ton. Freakin amazing. Forty years ago, Robert's works RH weighed 168 lbs.
Ok, Newmann, we get it. You love nostalgia and are an avid supporter of 2 strokes. Whenever the new bikes come out, you have nothing to say besides "LOL another fat 4 stroke pig!! 2 strokes weigh less than 4 strokes!! 4 strokes are pigs!!". I'm assuming you haven't had a chance to ride any of the new bikes. While on paper they are heavy, when riding, they don't feel any heavier what so ever.

Regardless, I look forward to riding the new 250. Zooks are awesome bikes.

The rm250 weighs over 200. Does that make it a step backwards from that RH?

I'll put it this way, if Suzuki would have had Hondas budget in '84-'85, I can imagine their full works bike looking like this. It's cool!

Looking at it from that perspective, I guess I agree with you. I wasn't trying to be a dick before - it's just not my cup of tea, that's all.

looks like they improved the 450 everywhere it needed.

as far as the black fender goes, big deal, it'll have a sticker on it anyway.

gotta admit tho, i'm pretty stoked that my '12 won't be outdated for at least another year, i really like it a lot.

i disagree completely, Ive ridden a new kawi, and honda, a 11 zook and they feel heavy, in turning, in braking, in accelerating, everything is slow and hippo feeling, yes they're fast, but the power makes up for their terrible handling. They feel heavier in real life, and are way heavy on paper. All 450's feel this way, 250's not so much, but they definitely handle bad in my opinion. All of these bikes had suspension work done and and were very plush, other than suspension the bikes weren't impressive. But then again i'm comparing them to a 06 yz250, and a 07 cr125. the yz250 doesn't feel at all a disadvantage to the newer 450's, power is there, handling is there, and its way lighter feeling. as for the 125, feels like a bmx bike compared to the 4foopties

As usual, you are focusing on just one part of the equation there homie. Even though it is heavier, in terms of performance on the track, the RMZ450 is a far superior motorcycle in every way.
That's a hard one to not focus on! lol I would sure hope it is superior in every way.....except that weight issue. I was just talking to one of my auto parts supplier guys today who is big into off road and hare scrambles. He buys a new bike nearly every year, sometimes he buys two or three new ones a year when one feels like a turd. He tries other brands but always migrates back to Hondas and always 450's. He like the 4 strokes and I've always asked why he never used a 250F in the woods. Asked that same question year after year and always got a Tim the tool man Taylor vibe from his response. Well finally he got rid of his last 450 and went with a Honda 250F. Said it's the best move he's ever made, wishes he'd done it years ago. Made it clear that the 450 does in fact feel heavy and sluggish through the rough tight and twisty in comparison. The next thing he said was that it made him regret selling off a KTM300 2 stroke that he bought from a friend as a spare bike several years back. I'm just guessing he may be riding something orange in the near future.

My old steel frame 2001 YZ250F is still lighter than any of the new 250F's and still has the same basic engine as the 2013 model. 2013 YZ is still carbed isn't it. But I'm cool with the YZ's as they provide a future supply of parts to keep my old beater around a while longer. Love the high revs of the small bores, except when they scatter. What a mess that always seems to be.

"Hello Newmann"

In case it's not apparent; I think it's safe to say that you are trying to convince yourself of something...Not sure what exactly, but good luck with that.

yeah, real good comparison. who the fuck rides woods? i live in socal, nobody i know here rides woods, everyone here rides tracks. ride what you want i say... besides, this didnt start out as the normal vital 2vs4 thread, it was just a thread about the new rmz's, thats all. if you dont like them, cool, dont buy one.
i'm really surprised that someone like you that has been around bikes that long doesn't have a more open mind about bikes, its to the point of embarrassing.
btw, i love my heavy pig and would put it up against your old shit box any time. try dropping 10lbs off of the muffin top, maybe you'll change your mind....or not, no one really cares what you ride.

Thats good, That will make it cheap to ditch the black stuff and make it look like a racer instead of a Glamis special. I am thinking hard of going yellow next year.

Sorry to break the news to you but believe it or not, the world doesn't revolve around MX. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe a tenth of new MX bikes sold ever see a track.

The comparative weight is irrelevant when you can turn faster lap times on it - and at the end of the day, the stopwatch is a much better measure of a motocross bikes performance than the scales. Might I remind you that the RMZ line is designed for motocross, not riding in the bush (or woods as you guys call it). My '08 RM250 was the perfect bike for the bush - I will admit that - but my 450 is much better on the mx track, and is not bad in the trees either. Also that is just one guys opinion (and you could well be making it up).

I can't believe I have been sucked into a stupid 2 stroke vs 4 stroke argument with you. I am not even a staunch 4 stroke guy. I like dirt bikes in general, and I believe everyone should buy the bike that best suits their particular needs and STFU! It just pisses me off how you have to bring this meaningless shit up in every thread. If you want to have this debate, keep it in the 2 stroke threads. You might think you are doing the 2 stroke a great service, but you just make yourself look stupid. I am sure I'm not alone in this opinion.

Sam, Sam, Sam.....go back and read what you replied to. I said he finally gave up his Honda CRF450 for a Honda CRF250. A Honda CRF250 happens to be a 4 stroke. So just where did I suck you into a 2 stroke arguement? You must just like making shit up. Go sit back, have a beer.....or six, and breathe. It will be okay.

maybe in kansas.....but not in the state where the most moto bikes are sold. we have no use for bark busters here.

sorry for the delayed response, but i went riding this morning then had lunch with my kid at the beach.

Good looking bikes, but IMO Suzukis always looked best with Yellow & Blue.

Newman, Newman, Newman....Go back and read all of your other posts in this thread. I was aware that is what you wrote in THAT particular post, but I was referring to all of your other comments in this thread (and on this board, for that matter) where you were going on about the weight of 450's compared to Joel Robert's 1973 RH250. Anyway, did you forget about your " it made him regret selling off a KTM300 2 stroke" comment in that post?

No I don't like making shit up (and I didn't) and my reading comprehension is fine. Your memory might need a little brushing up there buddy. I'm not much of a drinker, but have been out riding my 450 in the "woods" today. Had a blast - all is OK.

i'm telling you right now, i am the fastest ive ever been on a 125, i turn much faster lap times on it than i do on a 250 2 stroke, 250f, or 450
Well that might be true, but have you actually timed your laps on each bike? I sometimes feel faster on a 125, because you have to ride them so aggressively, but my lap times are usually slower. The nature of the track can also have a large effect on how fast a 125 can be ridden. To a great extent, the average rider's lap times are likely to be similar whatever they are riding. However, I think that anyone who says they are faster on a 125 is either a novice or a liar.
