One upside to a factory edition is that you then can have a titanium pipe plus whatever other goodies they come with off the showroom floor and still be legal to compete in the 250 or 450 limited class at Loretta's
Factory edition bikes have been over rated lately.
Replica bikes of the real thing? No thanks I’ll build my own with real performance hard parts. I don’t want any stupid Red Bull graphics either, I’m not getting a cent from Red Bull.
The only time they are useful is when the bikes get upgraded so you can get the upgraded version six months earlier than the new production model.
I just read that MXA replaced the Yosh Ti silencer that came on their 21 Honda 450 Works edition with a standard pro circuit model and gained over 3 HP. Ha!
Probably not, but it would be cool. KTM and Honda beat them to the game with the factory and works edition 450s, but I don’t think their 250s get that treatment. With Kawi being so closely tied to PC it would be really cool if they did a 250 PC edition.

What a Pony Queen..
That bike needs less hp. Yosh could be building a pipe so you can ride it rather than just hold on.

Extra horsepower in motocross 450 cc four strokes is not for speed, it is for additional torque. Gearing is for speed.
Where I ride there are a lot of fair sized jumps directly out of tight corners.
Extra Horsepower provides additional torque so I can seat bounce a jump out of a corner in a higher gear.
By extension, being able to ride in a higher gear during a moto is less tiring to the rider and compresses the suspension less. The master of this is Ken Roczen.
BTW, Experienced Motocross racers don’t “hang on”, they ride with their lower body clamped to the motorcycle with their legs.

Was thinking along those lines. Does a 450 really need 3 extra HP..
Had an 18 CRF450r & now have a 20 WE. The 18 was a handful once you start wearing down vs. the WE engine is smoother & easier to ride.

Thx 4 the pro tip Dawg! I'll be sure to clamp with my lower body more!
Did MXA mention torque numbers?
It's possible to create torque without horsepower.
Call it whatever you'd like, if it's unmanageable, it's worthless.
you always could just buy a pipe and some clamps for a normal one and call it a factory edition and pay a lot less
Take a stock Husky/KTM or Honda and add the Factory Edition/Works edition parts and features you get with those bikes. Do a quick calculation and then return with the result.
Why do you think manufactures stopped making 500's?
Anything is race-able if you have the skills and the fitness.
KX 500 power curve, twitchy handling, and light switch power band can't be compared to a modern Honda WE or a KTM FE for most normal humans.
My 2021 KTM has almost 66HP with a modified engine, aftermarket ignition and exhaust, and T-4 in the tank, but it is the smoothest and easiest motorcycle to ride I have ever ridden.
Most modern 450's are smoother than butter, EXCEPT for the YZ 450, which is too abrupt for my tastes.
BUT - Here is some random old guy winning Mammoth Motocross on a KX 500 in 2019...

You're not getting a cent from anyone, so are you running all white/black plastic and all white/black gear to show support for no one?
Highly doubt it.
Im getting a 5 percent discount from my local shop on odd- sized inner tubes and fake Ray Ban sunglasses from the scratch and dent bin.
That's a premier sponsorship baby!
If my KTM had graphics that could be taken off I might. But they are sublimated.
