Some people don't understand what mainstream is lol. The biggest I can think of is Oakley. Fox also has done very well. No Fear also went mainstream a while back. Not too many other companies besides that I can think of.

JT ever considered mainstream?

Seven might get there if we can ever get Bubba back on the track...
I've seen a number of MTB guys wearing Seven gear, it seems to be catching on.

What was the name of the company that used RJ's image when he was known as "The Bad Boy".

No, I mean I've seen mtb riders wearing Seven jerseys. Not pros, just guys out riding. They might be moto guys though

Life's a Beach started with surfing too.

RJ surfed now and again.
Nope they were all moto guys...Mark, Brian and Jeff were all from Illinois at the time...They were actually giving the stuff to racers at the Florida Winter Am's in 1980 or 81 my memory kind of fails me a little on exactly which year. It was before they all move to San Diego.

I believe it was Todd Nesler and his brother that started that.

Don Emler was/is the largest owner of No Fear.
Simo brother's always were, Don was number three behind them. Mostly got involved as No Fear was doing licensing deals with FMF for T-Shirts.

In the So Cal area, Troy Lee and One Industries are a bit more common to see. But just about anywhere else, it would be hard to find anyone that recognizes the name. Fox on the other hand is well known in every state and even outside the US.
Don't forget the Troy Lee edition Ford Ranger ! That's pretty mainstream.

Also, Answer and 661 have crossed over to mountain biking. Their shoes and handlebars are pretty well known. Sidi and Gaerne are very well known for their cycling shoes, especially Sidi.

What about Scott and Smith? Did Scott start with MX or Ski goggles? They now make bicycles and bike gear and are very well known. I've seen lots of mountain bikers wearing Smith helmets and glasses also.

Lots of examples that maybe aren't "mainstream" like in the mall, but are branching out from MX.

GoPro? A few years ago I only saw them on MX riders and other extreme sporters and now everyone and their dog has one.
GoPro was founded by a guy who races Formula B cars up in the northwest I believe.

*edit* After a Google search apparently his start with the cameras was while surfing before his racing days.

Several people have posted it already but I'd agree that Mechanix has made it to the mainstream.
