I traded, despite your good arguments and points My gas gas needed a ton of work. and the cr500 had power like I would t believe. It vibrates. And it vibrates a lot. But I'm not too picky and I have my first race in two weeks so it will be the telltale if I keep it or not.

I am really enjoying it. Went trough the carb cleaned it and did the air filter and changed the crank oil. It only runs high octane race gas which sucks and the spark plugs are 22$ each. But other than that the extended Spingarn makes t very controllable and nimble to ride with the aluminum frame.

What plug are you using in a CR500 that costs $22? I run the normal BR9, or 8EV or EG's. Retail, about $6. My local guy sells me at around $4, I buy the 4 pack. Nothing special there. You at least have all the CR500 motor parts if you want to update to a newer chassis. Welcome to the big bore 2 stroke club.

My bike has lots of head work done. The plug that I took out of it I ordered another identical one. I'll let you know what kind. I'm just wondering how hard it is to actually do another conversion. I'd like to get a newer frame. And with winter coming along. I'm already going to rebuild it and strip it all down and powder coat the frame. But before I do that I was wondering if you knew how hard it is to do another conversion and which frame is best? I'm not to picky on keeping it Honda. I would actually prefer a Suzuki or KTM frame. Just to be unique. Here's how my bike looks now. I did some funny work with some newer plastics and now it looks mean. IMO

I used a steel rm250 chassis. I wanted to use the cr500 engine but used a kx500 instead. It worked out well.
I have seen a couple rm/cr500 builds online. I think it's way easier than playing with aluminum.

I have a 1998 CR250 frame laying on the side of my house. Been there for a few years. Waiting for aluminum to go up! Parted it out & could not give the frame away.

My RM500AF is based on a RMZ250. I liked the handling of the 250 over the 450 Zuke. I had a bunch of fab work to do. Yes, I did it myself, with a friend who has a fantastic welding shop and teaches welding at a college. If you don't have skills, let somebody who does help you. It just might save your life.Wink Find a newer CR250 frame, swingarm, subframe, etc, CP500 has all the know how and parts. I rode my CR500 in it's steel frame, and I also have Steelie RM's. After doing the RM500AF conversion, the newer tech chassis really helped make a sweet bike. I wish I was healthy enough to ride mine more. Good luck.

I'm gonna follow GuyB's command: if you don't have something nice to say, then say nothing.

Is that swing arm extended? Looks weird to me back by the adjusters.
