Daytona crowd?

Edited Date/Time 3/10/2022 8:16am
Anyone know what the actual turn out was on the weekend? Seen a lot of post about how many fans turned up and how sick it was. So stoked to see all the fans back and the racing has been elite 🤘

It was packed corner to corner. Biggest turnout I’ve ever seen at Daytona. Lots of Harley people too, so I bet that was the first race for a bunch of people.

NASCAR (Daytona) never gives official numbers.

I would say pretty packed, this should give you an idea of how full things were.

They sold out last year because of only seating in the stands on the track side of the tri oval and social distancing, but you can't really "sell out" when there's trackside access.

This was the first year I can recall that even the general administration was packed enough that it was hard to find seats. We stood the whole time because only seats left were either far left of the track or far right of the track that you could hardly see the other side of the track. But damn, wasnt the atmosphere amazing!?!

This was about the 15th time I’ve been to this event and it was the biggest crowd I’ve seen for sure.

I believe that place seats 100k

Looks like they only have a third of seats open, so 35k

Not every seat filled.

I've been to a lot of big, sold out races, and Daytona this last weekend was as busy, and louder than any other race I've been to. Matthes bashes the race all the time, but I have no complaints. Yeah the track is long (width wise) so seeing all the way to either side is tough, but it didn't bother me. You can bring in your own alcohol. You can roam the garages all day, and walk on the track after the race. I really enjoyed it

There are as many people in front of the fence standing as there are in the seats….

You’re right, but, there’s a ton of people standing on the front stretch, they have bleachers on pit lane, I do believe that victory lane lounge has people in it also.

My guess 50k+

we've been there almost every race for a decade. new things this year

arrived at 11am, and took almost an HOUR just to get infield parked. not because of bad attendants, thats how big the crowd was. normally we drive straight in and park.

usually we buy tickets about a month prior and have great selection of reserved seats. not this year, very little left. it wasnt just bluff sell out either, they were turning people away at front gates if they wanted reserved

if you look at pics of the whole stands, yes it looks like you have have a lot more. theoretically you can just keep adding to GA seats on the far extreemes, but this isnt like a circular stadium seating venue, you legit wont be able to see.

yes, you can always squeeze more people on to the front track stretch, but ive never seen it even close to this. we had trackside access passes so we could do that in practice, and normally we walk down and watch like one heat or something trackside. didnt even try this year, so tight it would have been crazy to attempt.

getting out of infield parking often a pain, but it was over an hour for us this time.

ive never been in a stadium setting for a race and had even close to that much energy/cheering/etc when passes were happening. it was surreal and a race me or the kids will never forget. thankful we made it for this one.

Um, no.

There are around 100k seats for Nascar.

They use the seating from the each end of the trip-oval. They also have an abundance of suites, including the Rolex 24 suite up top.

There are also seats along pit road, as well as the trackside standing area on the banked Nascar track finish area.

I've been to every race since the early 80's. This was the largest crowd that I've ever seen.

60,000+

I was in the VIP section for the race and before the 450 main I asked Daytona Speedway President Frank Kelleher if he had a crowd estimate yet. He said over 30K, but I'm sure they were still tallying the tickets at that point. Could be higher than that.
