I do not get to watch the EMX 125 class very often but after watching the GP of Great Britain this weekend realizing that we're missing out by not developing and supporting this class here during the Nationals. It was great seeing the young talent (Håkon Østerhagen, Sasha Coenen, Bobby Bruce) that is coming up and supported by smaller satellite teams. Every time this topic comes up I keep hearing there's no one making 125s, but there were six brands represented (Fantic, Kawasaki, Gasgas, KTM, Yamaha, Husky). I'm not sure why this is such a difficult thing to get going but we're certainly missing out.

Those wacky euros did two things right...
1. Age restriction in the lil class
2. Smokers!!!
It pains me to say it, mxgp really is the world standard for mx.
You can already see people picking classes to avoid others.
And when they ran the All Stars a few years ago, i was treated as a 'run out' for a few ex-pro's , rather than a chance for new talent . Remenber Aiden Tijero , who ran Villopoto ragged... where has he gone?

Getting people to participate in a world championship that fits inside of what's west of the Rockies is a hell of a lot easier than a full US tour. BTW, not many riders compete in their entire "season" in EMX125. The race in Finland will see a full gate of locals.
I'm not saying it can't be done in the states. I just think we need to be realistic about what families are capable of doing on their own dime. Also, what good does it do MX Sports to have an am championship that draws away from their feature am event?
Another thing to consider, why do we think it hasn't happened yet? If anyone could make it happen, it would be a feature class at one of the Southern California series or with Victory Sports out east. Put up the pay, attract the riders, make a championship out of it. Simple, right? It's a massive logistical undertaking. If you wouldn't do it yourself, why would someone else?
We’re asking someone to do it who is 80% of the way there. They have the track, the marshalls, the sponsorship, the crowd etc etc etc
It’s not much to add in a feeder class. Supercross should do the same, picking kids for the pro teams based on an event ran over one week at one track is silly.
Plus names make sports popular it’s all about the characters, what a better way to develop characters and fan bases to get people hyped for when these kids move up to 250 class?
