I bought a pair of SG-10's in Mar-2004 when they were first released. Wore them constantly from 2004-2006 as my only pair of boots, including 3 or 4 beach races and tons of practicing.

From 2006-2012 they were my backup pair and still got used regularly (bought another set of SG-10). Not one single prob with them. Still on the original soles and nothing has broken or fallen apart. I gave them to my little brother a few months ago and now he wears them all the time.

Now I still wear the 2006 pair all the time. Same deal.. no probs, original soles. Can't say enough about the quality, comfort, protection, and durability of these boots.

To say that the Fox boot directly had anything to do with Kyles foot is a little silly. It's nothing but speculation to say another boot wouldn't have caused the same thing. It was a freak accident and any pair of Alpinestars or SGs would have done the same if not more damage. He didn't even break ANY bones apart from his big toe. He still wears the Instinct boot to this day.

like many other people have said, you can't go wrong with SG 10/12s. I've been wearing alpines since i was a little kid so I've had almost every A star boot except the tech 10 and recently just bought some SG 12s. before i bought those i had the tech 8's and the soles and the inner part (on the outside) were slowly making a hole throughout the boot. buying these gaernes is the best decision i have made in a while

I have problem with my friends Fox Instinct boots. Ever since he got them wet once, they stink like dead dog even like 5 feet away. He used different brand before and those never smelled that bad.

If I'm paying over $300 (and $549 is way over that), i want Italian made, not CHINA. One of my friends bought the Instinct boots, and also has already had problems with them.

This is Fox's first hinge boot. It is a cool design, I will will say that.

SG10s and SG12s are just great products, and great boots. Simple designs really, but perfectly executed. This is why they are so popular...they're good. Sidis also.

I have been using these, from another Italian mfg. Had a pair in 2008, wore them out, got this version. Really like them

Forma is not new to the market, they have been around for a while. They build good stuff.

.Forma boots make Fox boots. That's why they don't import Forma boots to the USA, or so I was told when I checked them out.

I just got some SIDI Crossfire boots last week. Glad I didn't get the Fox boots. I asked on another site and people said what is being said on here......

No, that is not the case. Forma has never made boots for Fox, although many years ago the owner was partners in another company that did ("Bieffebi").

Fox has not made boots in Europe for several years, since about 2005 I think.

I was told wrong then by the local MC shop. I see Forma boots are in Canada, but not in the US.. I checked into getting Forma boots, as they look nice, but posted what I was told.. My shop dropped Fox because of the demands that they placed on them, whatever that may be.

I really should have dug into this deeper before I posted that comment. Sorry about that

Forma boots caught my attention at the Canadian nationals.

Not a problem, the entire story is pretty convoluted. One "Forma" is a brand, the other was a product name.

I loved that original Fox Forma. But I am biased on that one........

Forma (the brand) was sold here from about 2005 - 2008, I had a pair of their high end boots back then. They are back in the US now. I have been using and selling them for about 60 days. They're quite good so far, like them.

Brand new spanking pair of size 12 Fox Instinct boots, third strap up, the inside round piece that holds the male part of the strap on breaks in half. I don't think a pair of Fox Instinct boots for $549 should have crap pieces made in China on them.
Going back to my trusty Alpinestars Tech 10's.
Just thought I'd put in a good word for fox considering they are the best boots I have ever had. I bought the red and white instincts and they lasted me 7 months until I got a hole in the right boot along the inside where the boot meets the frame. So I called fox and they sent me a pair of 2013s in black. I can already tell they updated the problem and it will not happen again. But the positives of this boot are amazing. So light and comfortable I will never go back to my tech 8s or 10s or Garne or Sidi these bots are just that damb good. 10 out of 10 no break in required and best of all I got used to the feel of them in about 2 rides felt like I had been riding in them for years. Worth the money and I will continue to get these boots and if something goes wrong with them just call fox and be nice they are really cool people and will more then likely send you a brand new pair. But I THINK THEY HAVE ALL THE BUGS WORKED OUT FOR 2013.

Reed was wearing Instincts when he got hurt, and everything I've seen of his training videos and the Dade race have been with Instincts as well. When did he switch back to Astars?
I was wondering if he was going to switch boots or not. When he crashed it sure looked to me like his boot hinge got stuck on the footpeg. Here is a photo showing what he was wearing at the MEC:

If I was Chump Reed, no way I would be wearing those boots. Maybe AStar Tech 8's with Fox stickers for me.

If I was Jason Lawrence I would be wearing the original plastic Scott boots with stickers to make them look like Vans slip-ons. Don't get me started on the choices I would make in foot wear if I were in Chad Reeds shoes.....'er boots.

did you buy the boots from target ,wall mart or some surf shop in the mall? ? i would never buy fox anything, the company is a sell out! stay away from alpine stars also..............gearne or side are the best and they support the dealer and customer with great service and quality products

I was an A* guy for years until I tried the SG12's I'll never use anything else. My buddy has the new Sidi's and the metal on the right boot is going to eventually rub through his clutch cover, he likes the boots though.
