Exactly! By their standard, landing in the middle of the last jump can be considered a quad. Makes no sense.
Just to be clear. I can draw however many peaks I can fit on the side of a table to resemble “landing areas” as I did above but it doesn’t change the fact that its still a table and a lone table can’t be, isn’t, never was a double.

Say your local track has a true triple (three jumps) and over time the last one gets worn down until it has a flat top or if its built with a safe landing zone It doesn’t all of a sudden change it to a quad.

Its a triple! See below

I have 2 tabletops that are about 17 meters(about 55 feet) across with a 9 meter or so (about 30 feet) in between.

A local pro doubles over both tabletops. Nobody has every called it a quad. Not once. Simply because it is two jumps.

It won't ever be a quad unless I take out the centers.

Pretty common thing for guys who ride SX to refer to this situation as a quad. I wouldn't think that would be such a sensitive topic but this is Vital. I've never heard anyone get all bent out of shape about correcting RC and Fro who have committed this unacceptable offense multiple times on broadcasts.

Its either, I tripled on to the table, or I tripled over the table. I don't see any quad there.

That’s pretty reasonable actually, more so than anything else posted so far at least

Here's version 2 of the highly detailed diagram, now higherly detailed. I decided to translate the diagram into language Vitards will understand:

What is it about the number 3 that you don’t understand? There are three jumps, not four.

This is how I work this shit out,...

A valley or floor is a lower part in the land, between two higher parts which might be jumps, hills or mountains. Valleys often start as a downward fold between two upward folds in the surface of the Earth..or in this case a track.

So by this we count the floors/valleys in between jumps and the answer is simple. 2 floors = 3 jumps. Its a fucking triple regardless of the last jump's shape..........

1) That is a big ass jump no matter what you choose to label it.
2.) Running at it from off track nullifies it no matter how big-ass it is.

It's like people saying "I got a 4th place holeshot" or "I won 4th place."

No. You got no holeshot and didn't win shit.

I explained that in detail from the very beginning with those exact words. That's how it has been since 1982 for me.
If they want to call it a "quad" they need to take out the center of the table.

To expand on that, someone else slower could go double, table.

It is not a Double, Double. The table is one jump.

Do you go to a track and tell people you "Doubled" the tabletop?
Of course you do.

I must be getting old because that just seems like pure stupidity to me. Glad I don’t have balls that big.

Goodness folks, some of you need to remove the stick from where the sun doesn't shine. He called it a quad because the guys who jump shit like this routinely refer to it as such. Here are 2 examples I've heard repeated from many riders and fans, including the ones involved. RC has mentioned the "quad" at Atlanta Stewart was doing countless times. We are all VERY aware it's technically not a quad, but a lot of what people say isn't technically correct. But by all means, take your crusade all the way to the top and let the pros know just how stupid they are for claiming quads instead of table triples.

2009 US Open:

The infamous 2007 Atlanta "quad" no one else would jump, including RC:

I’m surprised you’ve made it since 82 with your extreme lack of common sense. I’m not talking about a single table I’m talking about the drawing that the op gave.

Stewart didn't call those a quad. Some guy filming from the stands who probably has never started a bike named the video a quad.

next time marvin goes 3,3,3 in the whoops, lets all call it quad quad quad. SMDH.

Here is Stewart, once again, doing a "Quad"
He goes, Triple, Quad, but comes up short. Math is pretty fundamental.

Some tables have knuckles kinda like a double, so maybe if you landed on the first knuckle it could sorta be a quad? But that’s a flat table and very short one. So naaahh it’s a big ass triple.

Now my head hurts. Wtf people
Wtf is people looking at three objects and calling it four. It’s beyond stupid.

It does make sense being a quad. Step on step offs for example you double on to the taple then double off, you triple over the table, or quad the whole thing.

Exactly. Because a tabletop is TWO jumps isn’t it?

Not gonna lie, I was 20 feet away from him when he hit this and I kept saying he’s crazy, I was training a rider and we were blocking his line ? I gave him mad props when he landed it but he kept sending it and it was soo sketch when he cased it.

We always called them double table tops. Single jump to table top landing. This id call a triple table top. 2 singles to table top landing. Always felt the double table tops were a bit bigger than actual doubles. So adding tabletop on the end gives it a little more street cred! Sick jump don’t care what ya call it!
