Now, the black numbers on gunmetal grey backgrounds; that's a recent trend that's definitely going around

Am I the only one that thinks these colored backgrounds that fit the scheme of the graphics are stupid? Everyone has a hard on for these SKDA graphics that would not be allowed in an AMA sanctioned event unless it's chicken licks raceway. I don't get it. Even if it looks ok, it just seems dumb to me. Refusing to conform has become part of the norm.

You mean grey on black? This one belongs to a guy that works at a dealer near me and I think it looks pretty good. But everyone has their opinion.

thats the whole point...it goes against whats "allowed". Not sure how it is on your side of the world but over here the vast majority of riders don't race. Most are casual weekend riders and here in SoCal even the hardcore MX type mostly just practice. There have been more than a few topics on the decline of local moto scenes.

Even if people did race, with electronic scoring and transponders, having perfectly "correct" numbers and background colors are not all that important.

I like it. The days of black background white numbers or vice versa is stale and boring.
