Jimmy had some awesome years racing Davey,In 1980 he won all four NESC Expert championships and raced five 125 nationals finishing in the top 15 I believe ,I went into your vault but it doesn't show his 125 overall finish that year for some reason, unless I'm missing it.
His battles with Spencer Morrison in the 100 class were legendary around here. In addition to his many expert championships he won a lot of Vet championships too.
From that era in New England we should add Charlie Iott, Mark Robillard, Mike Guerra and Ricky Granville! Also from upstate New York..Rich Coon.

He is my cousin. His brother Kent probably had as much, if not more talent, but not really interested. I remember watching Kirk at Ross downs back in the day, we used to all load up in the orange Ford van and race there on Friday nights! Anyone even remember Ross Downs?
I got my first bike from Kirk (Doughboy), a 1981 YZ 80... I was also friends and went to High School with Kent.

Tim Locey used to come up and race woodland as well Uptite! I remember him , Scotty Tyler , Eric eaton , Phil and Mike larson and those guys would show up.....looked like a damn national.
Phil and Mike use to practice a lot near where I rode in Simi Valley when they raced Hondas. I use to battle with mike but Phil on that 500 in the hills was faaaaast.

Phil and Timmy both raced a big race at Indian Dunes in 83 and just left a fast pack of 500 pros. Tim was jumping so far off one jump and flat landing it and it raked out his forks.

In minnesota in the early 90's
our local 125/250 A class state champ Was Cory Kearney ..
I was a kid at the time riding 80's
I remember thinking he was so fast I didnt see how any one could be faster lol of course the top pro's
where . Cory had a stint riding pro in SX and the nationals .
Some times I think the top local guys dont ride there best because of nerves or who knows what
but I've seen Cory flat out flying at Illeville a few times . Then I saw him racing pro and not riding as well as I had seen before.
Cory did pretty good in 125 SX. Had top 5 finishes and had top 10 series points a few times.
Jordan SX use to have Keeney, Voss and Povolny going at it in the late 90's.

Chappy Blose, Carlos Serrano and Gary Dirks were probably the three fastest Phoenix locals, when I was racing in the late 70s early 80s. Chappy got a Factory Kawasaki ride in 79 & 80 and got 8th OA. in the 125 Nat. in 1980. I believe Carlos had a Factory Maico ride, and Gary rode for DG.

Jennings and Mike Bell ,cousins ,I believe. I heard the same rumor, but I believe many are confusing JJ with Suzuki test rider Bob Elliott, who did take his own life.

There was another guy in Norcal, in the mid 70s , Name; Alex Jorgenson, that was primaraly a smooth track rider with high National numbers. He would show up at Dixon about 3-4 times a year and smoke on one of those evil Can-Ams......It was embarrasing for the regulars.
Alex was a multi time Grand National race winner and and top10 in championship points many time.

His parents ran the old track at the Metrolina Fairgrounds north of Charlotte where a few nationals were held. The kid mixed iti up with Tony Summey, Sam Dayton and Billy Liles when he came up from Ga for the big local races.
