got a 96 f3 when i was about 17, put a ton of miles on it then sold it many years later.

tried to get back in with an 06 1k rr and it's a SICK machine, but my passion for it is kind of gone. I've gotten older, realized my mortality and it's pretty cramped compared to my old 6.

going to sell it in the spring and take a while off. Street is fun but the danger of what your doing is just immense when you grasp it. That and i don't feel like going to jail- i have what a psychologist would call- "poor impulse control"

My son and I did a little road racing last year and can't wait to do it again this year. He won his class and also took home Rookie of the Year and I took 2nd in my class. This year we'll both be racing in the same class so it should be interesting. I'm going to have to detune his bike.

You guys had a great 2013. Congratulations. BTW how old is your boy and good luck/have fun with your son again this year.

I'm in the same boat as a lot of you regarding not trusting myself on a street bike. I can ride a scooter no problem but putting me on something with some serious power after a lifetime of MX is dangerous.....just a matter of time until some thing happens.

I just don't get that.

It's just another bike.

It only goes as fast as you want.

Do people cut you off sometimes, pull out in front of you sometimes, sure.

But if you trust no one, ride like you believe that housewife is still gonna pull out, even tho you've made eye contact,
or that trucker on the interstate doesn't see you in his mirror, you'll be fine.

Believe me, the fact that you're an accomplished rider of the dirt, hell,
you're heads above any rider that has been nothing but street.

can't upload photos for some reason.

looks like this, cept yellow powdercoated wheels and arata slip and smoked double bubble screen.

i know that the newer fireblades perform better but aesthetically i think this was the top looking design for the 1ks.

I agree with you and myself ride assuming everyone is out to kill me. It is not paranoia, just awareness. And I regularly use the line when people say something is "too fast", that "it has a throttle, not a on/off switch. It only goes as fast as you let it."

I had one bad MX crash too many a few years back and with my kid not having the time to race anymore I figured it was time for me to hit the street again. In the last 4 years the wife and I have logged over 120,000 kms and have toured 7 Canadian Provinces and 40 of the lower 48 US States. I miss the adrenaline of MX but at 48 it's time to enjoy the travel with my Wife.

Ya, with me it was a back operation Chili.
I'm okay now, but I know what's up, one more big one and it could be real bad news.
And racing moto, that's where I have a hard time holding back.
So, for the time being, moto is on hold.

Yeah, Cali has the canyons, here it's the mountains...........

I actually left motocross after 2001 to ride street. I had a few bikes along the way...a 1994 Honda CBR600F2, 2001 Honda RC51, 2008 Ducati 1098S and lastly a 2010 BMW S1000RR. The S1000RR was the most fun to ride. But the past few years I had an itch to go back to the dirt again and I wasn't really riding my street bike. So I sold the BMW and got a KTM 250 SX for me, and a Honda CRF125F for my daughter so we can have some extra daddy/daughter time. I never really left the sport since I work part time in a dealership parts department. I don't think I'll have an itch to go back to the street any time soon though. My heart says I made the right choice in returning to my roots....

First street bike was an 85 VMax. Currently on a Triumph Speed Triple and thinking of parting ways with the S3 for a KTM500 EXC.

Raced flat track and mx as a kid, started street riding when I was 18. Did my first roadrace @ 23 and haven't looked back. I haven't had a full size dirt bike in 10 years because I tend to get hurt way more often in the dirt. Usually have some XR100's for having a bit of fun.

One thing I like about the track is most crashes don't really hurt. This one, I picked the bike up and still won the Unlimited race.

So while I haven't raced a dirt bike in many years, I'm still a huge fan.

Nice. I love the riding in North Carolina and Tennessee. Colorado, Utah and Arizona are great too.

I haven't done any track days, but have had a '74 CB550 four, an '02 Hayabusa, and a my Road King. One of my coworkers keeps wanting me to come out to a track day but I'm not going to take either my Honda or the Harley, and don't want to buy leathers for one use either.

Started riding on the street 6 years ago when I was 43. The harley is nice but I would rather ride my YZ 250

I prefer the Ducati over the Harley - the Harley does have its placeCool

Besides my addiction to offroad I have ridden street bike since the late 70's. All kinds bought begged or stolenShocked

My preference is offroad of all types - but two wheels of any kind winsWoohoo

I had a street bike for a while, but parked it and put a for sale sign on it after almost getting taken out twice in one day...and that was before people were using cell phones regularly.

I'd toyed with the idea of getting something else recently, but I think I'm opting out of that, too. Smile

I have this one right now, but I'm heavily considering selling it. I feel like I'm going to die every time I go out and I never even ride in the city.

Started riding when I was 7 years old, so dirt bikes are my first love. Bought a street bike when I was 20 years old for cheap transportation, enjoy riding street also. Always have one in the garage(06 zr750s now)for commuting to and from work. Motogrady I agree also , just ride smart!! It's all fun no matter what you ride.
