That is the plan for my son and I, we will see you there if you are able to make it out. Last year was a blast.

Current 89 race bike

Can you please post a photo of your front disc and tell us what you did to modify and were you got the parts from?
Did have to do some basic mods to get it mounted, think Moose was the mfg,

For those of you riding 80s bikes, how do they compare to current bikes? I originally stopped racing in ‘83 and then got back into riding around 2010. My first impression was bikes really weren’t that much better. Better, yes, just not a dramatic change. But I haven’t ridden an 80s bike since they were new, so I can’t make a true comparison.

Snapped this yesterday before the rains started at our PNWVMX race. Please excuse the 90s bike for photobombing the 80a bike!

Here's a good example of how an old bike can perform. This guy would smoke 99.9% of us Vital members on modified 2019 450's that cost 13K. It's the Indian, not the arrow...here's 5 minutes of joy:

My latest project I picked up last year. Fortunately for me it really didn’t need anything but a little clean up and race prep. One very trick 1980 CR250.

Front end is a 43mm set of forks and a dual actuated drum setup from a Suzuki in a set of billet triples from VMX Racing

Slim fuel tank from a 79 CR125 was fitted with some trick CNC machined bits and the pet o o was swapped to the opposite side.

Rear suspension is handled by a set of piggyback Ohlins attached to an original Fox Factory alloy arm with billet brake stay and chain guide.

PVL ignition, Mikuni carb, custom pipe and silencer, V Force reeds, loads of trick aluminum hardware and titanium fasteners all over.

And need to bolt up this sweet little addition from fellow Vitard Stevie Denton. The original kickers were made from butter.

View from above!

RC:
What years are these???
These are amazing.
I think we are looking at an 85 125, and an 86 250. I could very well be wrong, but when these came out, I was 12. However, they sure do look like what my big brother was racing at the time. Those bikes pictured look incredible!

1981 RM80

Send this bike to a man in Cali. He runs a shop called R&D, and history shows he is quite capable of doing amazing work on a Suzuki just like this one. That is one nice little Zook you have there......

Big Bird replica, LOVE IT. Recently got an '88 RM250. Wanted a '90 RM250 but TVRC here in TX has the GP3 class ( bikes up to '89 ) so went with the '88. AHRMA in the brilliance, refused to accept the late 80's - 90's era until recently and then only begrudgingly

Thanks man! The 88 is a great bike and a definite weapon for that class. I'm always on the lookout for an 88

What did you paint that pipe with?
Aircraft paint. We paint some of our parts with this high heat paint. Sorry I can’t give you much info. I’m in Florida and don’t have the numbers on it.
