MXA v Pingaree

After watching Pingarees review on the new CRF 450 on Racer x dialled in,i was surprised to find a polar opposite opinion to that of mxa,s, also added a referance to the orange helmets when he talked about a rear sprocket change,is he blowing wind up Hondas arse or is he doing it to go against the grain of MXA,s review of the CRF?

Plot summary

Pingaree is an island in the Nonestic Ocean that surrounds the fairy countries that encircle the Deadly Desert that surrounds the Land of Oz. Many years before this story begins, the armies of Regos and Coregos sought to invade Pingaree, but their advance was repelled by Pingaree's king with the help of three magic pearls given to him by the Mermaids. The Blue Pearl gave the king superhuman strength, the Pink Pearl protected him from any form of harm, and the White Pearl provided words of wisdom that only he could hear. Buoyed by the Pearl's magic powers, the king of Pingaree led his people to victory and the invaders from Regos and Coregos drowned on the return trip.

Years ago, MXA made a comment in their magazine that Ping should focus on college because he wasn't cutting it as a pro racer.

Ping is a lighter, shorter, ex-pro with good technique that likes a lot of sag. Probably much different than the guys MXA used. Every rider has their preferences.

You could chalk it up to bias from either MXA or Ping. But Kris Keefer of Dirt Rider, who was a dedicated Yamaha man, has given up the blue bike for the new 2017 Honda 450. So to me if a guy who is a test rider and might lean toward the Yami, give it up and gets one of the new Hondas, that says something. I haven't rode one myself but that's just my 2 cents.

Lets face it we will never hear MXA say anything great about a Honda...or if they do it will come with a negative not long after....does Honda have flaws, yes (like most bikes do), are they are bad as MXA makes out? No they are not.

Remember their comment around a "rash" of engine failures on the 2017 450? There has only been a very small number and most of those on pre-production machines. Lets not even debate the 'rash' of other manufacturers issues that they never talk about. Smile

My guess would be Keefer didn't buy it. I would also bet that he still has a Yamaha in the garage somewhere, and probably rides a few different colours. I wouldn't read to much into what Keefer is riding at any one time, otherwise the ALTA will be placing highly in the upcoming shootouts also by that logic.

MXA is a lot of things, but I don't think they are biased.

They are somewhat dumb and full of themselves though. And even though they explicitly say they aren't a "teeny bopper magazine" they are basically written precisely as a teeny bopper magazine. No non-teeny bopper is going to ever describe themselves as a "wrecking crew" or any sort of crew for that matter. That shit is ridiculous.

2nd that. To call them biased is just stupid.

MXA is completely bias and it shows. To say Jody is full of himself is an understatement. I like checking out MXA for various reasons, but my distaste for Jody has led to one of my favorite past times reading MXA and finding how many grammatical and technical errors I can find in each MXA by the all knowing, multi-time champion racer, and editor Jody! (Insert Annoyed Eye Rolling Emoji) One pattern I found is when it comes to the Honda's there seems to be more technical errors than any other bike. Just sayin....I used to give their tests some creditability, but after attending World Vet a couple years ago I can't take any MXA testers advice seriously, especially Jody. If you wanted to know where the MXA testers/racers were placing all you had to do was look for the MXA orange helmets who were getting lapped or at the back of any given class. Beginner and Novice class mostly. Save for Dennis Stapleton. After that sorry.....the average Vital member is faster than most of the MXA wrecking crew. Then Jody's article about how rolling doubles is faster than jumping doubles (Insert hysterically laughing emoji) sorry.......I think somebody is compensating for something.......Basher was MXA's only hope at restoring creditability in the near future, but that's gone now......Mean while Ping who I think Jody is jealous of because he has more talent in one throttle hand than Jody could ever hope for. Ping ex National Pro can actually ride a bike comes across pretty level headed, open minded, with some sound advice. I don't always agree with Ping, but I will take his word far before MXA's. Can anyone please tell me in what classes Jody won his "Local" Championships in?? He always seems to leave that bit of info out.

You must be pretty young, otherwise you might remember when people referred to them as Hondacross Action. Then Yamaha came across with good machines that while they didn't necessarily do anything great, they did everything really good. Those were the Yamacross Action years. Anyone with a brain could read their tests and see the strong and weak points of all bikes and make their own decision as to which one they thought would be the best for them. I remember when they ran Suzuki off because they were so bad and unreliable and they had to go buy Suzuki's to put in the tests and shootouts. Funny stuff to hear people talk of all the bias. Does anyone remember not so long ago when the Kawasaki was voted worst bike by everyone and Transworld gave it their Bike of the Year award? Show me the money!!!

I had heard of their bias in the 80's and 90's so yes....so what they do today clearly has happened for many a year then eh?

This is pretty much the first thing that pops to mind when I hear someone complain about MXAs anti Honda bias.

It does not matter what ping or mxa thiinks about the bike. Only thing that matters is what James thinks about the bike.
